Louise M. Nicholas

Louise M. Nicholas, 83, departed this life on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Carle Health-Bromenn Medical Center in Normal, IL. She was born on August 25, 1941 in Sikeston, MO, the daughter of Rev. Jesse Hubert Johnson and Beatrice (Sloan) Johnson. Louise married Earl Nicholas on August 7, 1965 in Bloomington, IL. Earl preceded her in death on December 29, 2006. She is also preceded in death by her parents.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her sons, Eugene (Pamela) Nicholas of Fairburn, GA and Gary Nicholas of Urbana, IL; her brother, Harry (Katherine) Johnson of Normal, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL receiving her Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Primary Education in 1963. She started her teaching career in the Bloomington Public Schools District 87 teaching second and third grade at Emerson Elementary School. She then transferred to Sheridan Elementary School. She retired from teaching in 1994.

Louise gladly served the church and was member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she played piano for the Senior Choir until she was not able.

The visitation and service will be held at East Lawn Funeral Home, 1102 Airport Road, Bloomington, IL. Visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 and the service at 11:00 on Thursday, December 26, 2024. Entombment will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Bloomington, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
