Marie Alfaro Sandoval, 77, of Normal, was called to heaven Tuesday, April 24, 2018. She was born February 19, 1941 in Michoacan, the daughter of Jose and Carmen Alfaro. She married Salvador G. Sandoval on September 28, 1953. Marie was a loyal and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved everyone and had the biggest heart imaginable. She was the most amazing woman anyone had the privilege to meet. Always so selfless and kind. Her smile and laugh brightened up any room. Our hearts are aching, but we must always hold onto our memories of the greatest person in the world. She will always protect us and watch over us. She was the rock of our family. She was brave, strong, and loving with a firm hand. She also loved to impart important life lessons. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved sharing it with everyone she met. A sincere thanks to Dr. Jack Spaniol, Dr. Pankaj Kumar, Dr. Vijay Kumar, and all of the staff and volunteers at Illinois Cancer Care for the wonderful care, and attention. She retired from Illinois State University as a Building Service Worker. Survivors include her children, Jose Sandoval, Bloomington; Agustin Sandoval, Normal; Salvador Sandoval, Bloomington; Ana Sandoval, Texas; Sandra (Maleno) Nieto, Bloomington; Patty (Phil) Ellis, Bloomington; Luis Sandoval, Normal; Silvia (Oscar) Ruiz, Bloomington; 31 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; siblings, Rafael Alfaro, Mexico; Agustin Alfaro, California; Juan Alfaro, Mexico; Carmen Barajas, Tennessee. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday April 30th at Holy Trinity Church in Bloomington. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon, April 29th at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington. Condolences may be shared with the family at eastlawn-bloomington.com.
