Mary Louise Hanover, 97, of Bloomington passed away peacefully at her residence and surrounded by family. She went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 18, 2021. She was born on March 19, 1924 in Randolph, IL to William and Daisy (Higgs) Masters and married Raymond Hanover on October 23, 1954. He preceded her in death on May 5, 2001.
Mary loved to tell stories about growing up during her childhood years and her family history. In her younger years, she had several jobs. She helped her dad plant crops with a tractor, worked at the Hemp Mill in Lexington, IL, cleaned rooms at Brokaw hospital, and worked at the box factory in Bloomington, IL, Kathryn Beich Candy Factory, and Eureka Williams factory. Her favorite hobbies were embroidery and making things out of plastic canvas. She liked doing aerobics, playing bingo, and going to senior events at Western Avenue Community Center as well as at other places. She was a member of Liberty Church and participated in puppet ministry and was a volunteer in the nursery there. She later attended Victory Church for several years. She will be missed by family and friends.
Surviving are her daughter Melinda (David) Hale of Bloomington and grandson Brandon (Samantha) Hale. She is preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters Mabel White and Pauline Ely.
The family would like to thank OSF St. Joseph Hospital, Heritage Health Nursing Home in Normal, and OSF Hospice Care for taking good care of Mary.
A public visitation will be held on Saturday July 24 from 11 am - 1pm at East Lawn Funeral Home, with a service to follow. Entombment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens.
