Melvin Gordon, 84, of Bloomington, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 20, 2018) at his home.

His funeral will be at noon Friday at East Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Kohler of West Twin Grove Church officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at East Lawn Funeral Home.

Melvin was born January 12, 1934 at McLean, son of Claude & Ella Gordon. He married Jean Burden on October 28, 1962.

He is survived by his wife; sons Claude (Jeanne) Gordon and Eric Gordon; daughters, Jean (Gary) Masters, and Janet Townsend; granddaughters, Kelli (Jay) Pasley, Alexis and Megan Gordon; grandsons, Michael, Sammy and Cole Gordon; along with other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters; Jean Ball, Linda Johnson, Sue (Butch) Steward. Brother; Dennis Gordon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lawrence Gordon.

Melvin was a truck driver for General Grocer and Martin Brower. He enjoyed meeting his friends for coffee every morning at Hardees. The family would like to thank all of the hospice workers and volunteers, family and friends that helped us on his journey home.

I worked with Mel at Martin-Brower. Loved hearing his stories of the General Grocer days.
Everybody out on our routes knew Mel as "darling".
Sorry to hear of his passing but he sure enjoyed his life and always had a good time.

Glad to be able to say Mel was a friend.
