Oakley was born December 24, 1938 to Oakley E. and Virginia (Ables) Mitchell.
Oakley was a member of the Union, Lay Baptist Minister, and was a Democratic Chairman for Woodford County.
He enjoyed bingo, farming, fishing and helping others.
Survivors include his children: Thomas Mitchell of Rowen Oak, IL, Darlene (Jim) Jordan of Heyworth and Charles Mitchell of Secor, IL; siblings: Wayne (Bonnie) Mitchell of Stoutsbille, MO and Emma Orr; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: James Mitchell, Geneva Overby, Janice Kellerhall and Tess Scott.
Visitation will be from 1pm until the 2pm service Saturday September 21, 2013 at East Lawn Funeral Home, 1102 Airport Rd. Bloomington, IL 61704. The Rev. Keith Ferguson will officiate.
