She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mildred Boitnott, and one brother Tommie Boitnott.
Pattie graduated from Normal Community High School in 1968 and attended Illinois State University.
In her early years, Pattie worked at Glendale Federal Savings and Loan in San Diego, CA before moving back to Illinois where she worked at Taylorville Savings and Loan in Taylorville, IL. After that, she worked as a beautician in Lexington, Illinois, where she ran a home-based salon, PR’s Personal Touch. Later in life, she ventured into the insurance industry working for several companies. She retired as a consultant/trainer for Grange Mutual Insurance Company. Upon her retirement from Grange, Pattie began working alongside her husband, Bob, at their business Bob Taylor’s Classic Auto until they both retired in 2016.
Pattie was a devoted wife to Bob, her love of 20 years. She enjoyed spending time with Bob traveling to car shows and auctions. She loved driving and displaying their classic cars. Her favorites were the convertibles so she could drop the top and let the wind blow through her hair. They enjoyed traveling to sunny destinations with their favorite travel buddies. She’d spend time in the sun walking on the beach and collecting shells. When she wasn’t traveling, you’d often find her reading, shopping, decorating her home, or sunning by the pool with her kids and grandkids.
Pattie was an amazing mother who loved her children with every ounce of her being. They were not only her children but most importantly her friends. They talked daily just to check in on each other. She always put her children first and made herself available to them whenever they needed her. She never let them get away without a hug, kiss, and an I love you. She showed them, unconditional love, every day of her life.
She was a doting grandmother whose face lit up when her grandchildren were around. She was a hands-on grandma always coming up with fun projects for the grandkids to do. They baked, painted, planted, crafted, drove the golf card, had dance parties, and played in the pool. She attended their soccer games, t-ball games, dance recitals, music concerts, musicals, and graduations. She always said her grandkids were ‘a little slice of heaven.’
Pattie was the most amazing friend. She was the kind of friend that everyone needs and should strive to be. Pattie had a way of always making her friends feel special. She was a friend who’d always show up for you, and she had a knack for knowing when someone needed her. She cherished her time with her high school best friends celebrating birthdays and their girl’s nights out. She enjoyed having lunch dates with former classmates and colleagues and chatting it up with her Friday morning coffee group.
Pattie was an avid supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She was an active member of the St. Jude parent’s support group and was on the St. Jude Midwest Affiliate board. She was also part of a group that started the St. Jude Bloomington to Peoria run. St. Jude held a special place in her heart after her son, Craig, received life-saving treatments there for a rare form of leukemia. She was also a member of the McLean County Home Extension and the Epsilon Sigma Alpha service organization.
She always put her family first and spent her days making sure everyone was taken care of. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Her kind heart, generous spirit, and great love will be remembered forever. We were blessed to have her in our lives, and she will be forever missed.
Honoring Pattie’s wishes, cremation services will be provided by East Lawn Funeral Home 1102 Airport Road, Bloomington, IL. A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm, with a funeral service at 12:30 pm.
