Richard J Coit

Normal – Richard Jay Coit, 62, of Normal, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal. Rick was born March 17, 1956, in Bloomington, the son of Ronald and Geneva White Coit. Surviving are his children, Stephanie Bentley of North Baltimore, OH; and Stacie Coit of Mooresville, N.C. and Alex Burcham ,“like a daughter he raised as his own, of Bloomington, IL.”; a brother, Ron (Kaye) Coit of Farmer City; two sisters, Debbie Devine and Lori Rogers, both of Bloomington; and his significant other, Christine Bator of Normal. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Geneva Coit and a nephew, Ryan Peasley. Rick was a truck driver for many years working for APL Trucking and Williams Trucking. He was known as “Hollywood” or “Tennessee” to all his coworkers. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and was an avid fan of Jimmy Johnson. Per Rick’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A brief graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2018 at East Lawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Rick was a wonderful person. He lit up the room when he walked in. He was very special that way. I couldn't help but laugh just when I saw him because I knew he was going to make me laugh, somehow, someway and he always did. RIP my friend. Blessings to the Coit family.
