

Robert “Trapper” R. Michael, 80, of Towanda passed away January 3, 2022 in his residence and surrounded by his family. He was born August 2, 1941 to Robert and Ruth (Compton) Michael and married the love of his life, Janice Whitman on March 16, 1968.
Robert was a proud Vietnam veteran, who served our country in the United States Air Force. He earned several medals throughout his time of service, including a national defense service medal, good conduct medal, manship ribbon, and the Vietnam Campaign medal. Post service, Robert joined the Local 1051 Carpenters Union as a millwright. He was well known in both the gun and trapshooting community, traveling all over the state and even to other states in hunt of the next best shooting range. Robert maintained membership with the Amateur Trapshooting Association and was even ranked 3rd in the state of Illinois. He enjoyed fishing, and riding his Harley-Davidsons. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and loved his dog, Cooper.
Surviving are his loving spouse of 53 years: Janice; children: Rob (Cheryl) Sherman, Julie (Chuck) Clark; grandchildren: Joel, Kiersten, Kylee, Erin, Kristen, Weston; great-grandchildren: Rowan, Jackson; sister: Mary (Robert “Bo”) Bobbell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his: parents, and brother: John Michael.
Cremation rites are being accorded with East Lawn Funeral Home, 1102 Airport Road. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2021 at 2pm at East Lawn Funeral Home.
