

He was born May 3, 1928 in Bloomington, son of Willard J. and Mildred Kirby Grimm. He married Helen “Dolly” M. Fortino on October 11, 1947 in Bloomington.
Surviving are his wife, Dolly of Bloomington; two daughters, Ann Jenkins of Bloomington and Josie (David) Whitecotton of Durham, NC; two grandson, Michael Griffin of Normal and Dane Griffin of Bloomington and four great-grandchildren, Drake, Brock, Cassidy and Savannah Griffin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Russell was a United States WWII Air Force veteran. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 454 in Bloomington.
He first worked with his wife as owners and operators of R&R Restaurant in Clinton and The Grill Restaurant in Mt. Pulaski, IL. Later he was a chef for the Holiday Inn in Bloomington for 20 years, then worked at St Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington for 15 years. He retired in 2000 as a chef from The Canteen at State Farm after 15 years.
Russell was an avid billiards player and enjoyed watching baseball. He will be remembered by his family and friends as always one to want to help others, giving to his community and active with spending time with seniors and family. He will be deeply missed.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, IL. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday with a prayer service beginning at 4:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will follow services at East Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum, Bloomington, IL.
