Sharon Lynne Gee

She was born on November 8, 1939 in Clinton, IL ,daughter of Franklin V. and Audrey Woodward Havlin. She married Larry D. Gee on February 12, 1960 in Kankakee, IL.

Surviving are her husband, Larry of Bloomington, IL; daughter, Machelle Gee of Marion, IL; son, Troy (Carla) Gee of Hudson, IL and step-son, Lary (Sabrina) Gee of Kodak, TN. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Brin Nussbaum, Kirsten Joye Gee, Dane Shannon, Caleb (Jordan) Gee and Joshua (Abby) Gee and 16 great-grandchildren; one sister and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; two brothers and one great-grandson.

Sharon graduated from Clinton Community High School and Brown's Business College and furthered her education with a degree in finance and accounting from Richland Community College and the American Institute of Banking.

Sharon worked for over 40 years in banking, starting with the DeWitt County National Bank (renamed First National Bank) as an administrative assistant and advanced to the position of vice president and trust officer. She later worked as vice president for Prairie State Bank in Mt. Zion, IL and retired as a vice president from Heartland Bank and Trust in Bloomington, IL.

She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Junior College Honorary Society and Decatur Greater Chorale. Sharon was also a former secretary with the Clinton Chamber of Commerce, former secretary and treasurer of the DeWitt-Piatt Bi-County Health Department, former treasurer of the American Cancer Society in DeWitt County and former president of the Clinton Band Boosters.

Sharon and Larry were members of the First Christian Church in Clinton.

She enjoyed reading, chocolate, gardening, cooking, knitting and playing pinochle, but her greatest enjoyment came with spending time with her family.

Cremation rites have been accorded by East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, IL. A private inurnment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Clinton, IL at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
