Sherry L Potter Bumpus

Sherry L. Bumpus, 53, of Hudson, passed away at 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at her home.

She was born October 29, 1957 in Peoria, IL, daughter of Millard Dale and Sharon Lee Deer Potter. She married William Michael Wilson. She later married Douglas M. Bumpus on May 31, 1986 in Pontiac.

Surviving are her husband of Hudson; three daughters, Julie (Jon) Folsom of Champaign, Carissa Bumpus of Bloomington and Ashley Bumpus of Hudson; one step-daughter, Victoria Lake of Mt. Vernon and one step-son, Michael Steidinger of Fairbury and her mother, Sharon Potter of Crest Hill. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Corbin, Owen and Jude Folsom, Austin Koch and Megan, Trinidy and Catrina Lake; two sisters, Sue Bregar of Joliet and Debbie (John) Bourg of Manhattan and many nieces and nephews.

Sherry was preceded in death by her father.

She attended Heartland Community College in Normal, where she received an Associate’s Degree.

Sherry was a homemaker, where she spent her time raising her daughters. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Bloomington, where she also worked part-time providing secretarial and clerical assistance when needed. She was passionate about the church’s “Celebrate Recovery” Program and was very inspired by God’s word.

She enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening and crocheting.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Church of the Nazarene in Bloomington. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington and additional visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington.
