Her funeral will be held at 11am on Monday, November 3, 2025 at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, IL. Interment will take place at East Lawn Memorial Gardens immediately following services.

She was born September 17, 1934 in Normal, daughter of Harris F. and Naomi M. Whiteman Hamilton. She married Ronald V. West on November 15, 1953 at First Baptist Church, Bloomington. He preceded her in death on November 30, 1975 in Bloomington. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Ann Tuttle.
Surviving are three children, Michael West, Bloomington, Rebecca (Wes II) Philpott, Nevada and Patrick (Pamela) West, Normal and two grandchildren, Wes Philpott III and Anthony Philpott (Alli). Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Vera and Wally Philpott.
Sonna was a member of West Twin Grove Christian Church.
She loved spending her free time with her grandchildren, playing cards with the "Catty Club", traveling with friends, line dancing with the "Senior Side Kicks" and was very active in the Miller Park Senior Center in Bloomington. Sonna also enjoyed being a troop leader with the Girls Scouts and a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary.
