Timothy D. “Tator” Smith, born September 12, 1954 in Decatur, IL has gone to the big hunting ground in the sky on January 19th, 2020 at 8 p.m. Tim graduated from Illiopolis High School in 1972. He then joined the army stationed in Fort Hood, TX. He won the National Defense Service Medal as an Expert Rifleman.
Tim was an avid hunter and spent time with both his father and his son deer hunting in southern Illinois. He enjoyed watching sports, his 2 main teams were the St. Louis Cardinals and the Dallas Cowboys.
He is survived by the love of his life wife Nancy (Gresham) of Danvers; sons Tyler of Lexington, NC, and Michael (Cassie) of Normal, IL. Three sisters Shirley Stuart of Mt Auburn, IL, Mary (Doug) Schniepp of Decatur, IL, and Carolann (Randy) Carara of Warrensburg, IL; two grandchildren Carly Jo and Chase; several nieces and nephews, and of course his beloved dog Izzy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, father Shirley (Smitty) and mother Carol of Mt. Auburn, IL.
Funeral service will be Saturday, January 25, 2020 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorial contributions may be made in Tator’s name to OSF Hospice.
