

Born December 1, 1939 in Twila, Kentucky to Garfield and Martha (Scott) Saylor; he married Judith Fulkerson on January 6, 1967 in Bloomington. She preceded him in death on October 20, 2021.
Also preceding in death were his parents; brothers, Rufus and Charles; and sisters, Etta bee, Elizabeth, Viola and Della Mae.
Surviving are his children, Ellen Hilger of Redford, MI, Tom J. (Christine) Saylor of Normal, Carol (Ted) Gee of Bloomington and Brenda (Steven) Brooks of Bloomington; grandchildren, Christopher Hilger, Emily Hilger, Alex Brooks, Amber Brooks, Hannah Burkholder, Mariah Porter, Kyla Gee and Cameron Saylor; great grandchildren, Jax, Lydia, Henry, Levi, Brantley, Ainsley, Lincoln, Caroline and Ryker; brothers, George (Barbara) Saylor and Walter Edward (Louise) Saylor; and sister Naomi Smith.
Tom was a sheet metal worker retiring from General Electric in Bloomington.
Tom often spoke of his childhood, growing up in Wallins Creek, River Ridge and Twila, Kentucky. As a child he played in the Cumberland River with the neighbor kids where they would jump from rocks and swing from trees into the river, with the older children always looking after the younger ones as they played.
He loved and was proud of his grandchildren as he spoke of them every day.
In recent years, Tom spoke of missing his wife and looking forward to being reunited with her in heaven.
He was a member of the Full Gospel Church of Praise in Bloomington.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, January 6, 2025 at East Lawn Funeral Home, 1102 Airport Road in Bloomington with visitation one hour prior to the service. A committal service will follow the funeral at East Lawn Memorial Gardens.
