

Bloomington – Tonja J. Gibson was born on December 4, 1959 in Tyler, TX, to Sandra K. Rongey and John J. Snelling. She passed away at her home in Bloomington, IL with her family by her side on December 26, 2016 at the age of 57.
She married her soul mate Thomas D. Gibson, March 27, 1982 the love of her life. They have spent their entire adult life with one another. And when asked, she said she would do it all over again.
Tonja spent the last ten years being a stay at home wife and nana. She loved every soul she came across. She was a hardworking, dedicated, loving, loyal, caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, nana, and friend. She enjoyed good music, good food, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She was known and loved by all for her wonderful gift of giving. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband Thomas Gibson; her two daughters, Amanda (James) Gibson; and Stephanie Gibson; a stepson, Thomas (Marie) Emery; and a special niece, Tara Gibson. Surviving are also her 11 grandchildren that she adored dearly; her mother, Sandra (Charles) Rongey, sister, Renee (Geri) Rongey, brothers; Gerald DeBolt, John Snelling, Bruce (Jean) Rongey, Calvin (Pamela) Snelling, Michael Snelling, and Timothy (Michelle) McDonald; and a step-parent, Jodie Snelling. She was preceded in death by her father, John J. Snelling; and a grand-daughter, Alivia Gibson
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 2810 Tractor Lane, Bloomington, IL. 61704. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in memory of her grand-daughter, Alivia Gibson.
