He was born on January 13, 1956 in Chicago, son of Walter Ray and Dorothy Omega Johnson Tate. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his daughter, Tiffany (Xavier Taylor) Daniels; two grandchildren, Nevaeh Daniels and Nazir Taylor and three sisters, Delores Malloy, Denise Tate and Jennifer Tate.
Walter worked in janitorial maintenance at State Farm Insurance Company, Bloomington.
He enjoyed the outdoors, but especially enjoyed being with his family. Walter will fondly be remembered by his family as being a wonderful father and grandfather.
There will be no service or visitation. Cremation rites have been accorded by East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington.
