Wayne W. Fisher

He was born on April 16, 1938, in Bloomington, Illinois, to William and Ruth (Butler) Fisher. He married Faye Turner in 2002, and she survives. Together, they shared a passion for racing, a deep love for one another and created many happy memories with their families.

He is also lovingly remembered by his three children: Mark (Lynn) Fisher of Bloomington, Pam (Jack) Cullen of Normal, and Scott (Valerie) Fisher of Bloomington; six cherished grandchildren: Kyle Fisher, Eric Fisher, Katie Cullen, Jason Cullen, Jessica Hegland, and Cass Fisher; and two great-grandchildren, Mason and Hannah Cullen, who brought him great joy.

In addition, he was a treasured stepfather to Pat (Amy) Turner and Melinda (Tony) Feger; a loving step-grandfather to Alivia Turner, Devin Feger, Damick Feger, and Drew Feger; and a step-great-grandfather to Luken Feger.

He also leaves behind his brother, Howard, for whom he provided devoted and loving care over the years. His beloved companion, Turbo, will also miss him dearly. One of Wayne’s greatest joys was taking Turbo for daily walks along the Constitution Trail, a cherished routine he rarely missed. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gene Fisher.

Wayne worked as a construction contractor for his entire career. He had a remarkable ability to build or repair nearly anything, often devising his own creative solutions. His hands were rarely still, and even into his 80s, he could often be found on a roof or working on a project.

He loved participating in auto racing, anything from sprint cars to stock cars and even go-kart racing. He raced go-karts until the age of 86 and was proud to have had his own racetrack. Many of Wayne’s most treasured memories were made on Saturday nights under the lights at his racetrack, where family and friends gathered to share his passion for go-kart racing.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 pm on Friday, August 14, 2026, at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, Illinois. The family invites you to share your favorite stories and memories of Wayne. Per Wayne’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A private interment was held at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Wish Bone Canine Rescue. Those wishing to honor Wayne’s memory are also encouraged to spend a special day with family, attend a race together, or simply perform an act of kindness in his honor.
