

Alfred E. Parker of Bloomington died Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the Bloomington Hospice House. Gene was born in Shongaloo, La. November 11, 1923 to Henry and Ruby Parker.
Gene filled his life with love of family, working at Indiana University for 35 years and music. He played steel guitar for over 60 years for his own enjoyment and professionally. He played in stage bands for Loretta Lynn, Bobby Helms as well as many local venues. He was a lifelong Mason and served at many Shriners parades and functions as a clown to bring joy to enhance the lives of others.
He is survived by the love of his life for 73 years of marriage Mary Crawford Parker. Two sons Prentice (Vickie) and Jim (Marlyn), Grandchildren Heather Allen (Brian), of St Augustine Fl, Scott (Chrystal) Pennington of Bloomington. Four Great Grandchildren Mitch, Ruby, Lily and Haylee
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Visitation with be 4-8 pm, Wednesday April 20, at Deremiah-Fry Funeral Home, 700 W Gourley Pike. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am Thursday, April 21 in the funeral home.
