Alice Nita Juanita Day Friedrich

Alice Juanita “Nita” Friedrich, 82, of Bloomington, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 5, 2011 at home with family after a long battle with cancer. Juanita was born April 29, 1929 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of Thurman Luke and Frances Lucile (Turner) Day. She married James Edward Friedrich on February 7, 1948 in Indianapolis. She was a member of St. Therese of the Little Flower Church in Indianapolis, St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Columbus, and St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Bloomington.

Nita was a loving and wonderful woman who completed her life’s journey on earth. Nita’s smile and gentle ways deeply touched the hearts of her family. She will be remembered for her passion for her children, grandkids and great grandkids. She will be terribly missed.

Nita is survived by a son, James A Friedrich of Carmel; two daughters Debby (Dale) Beckley of Bloomington, and Paula (SW “Zeke”) Sandlin of Columbus/Scipio, Indiana; ten grandchildren, Aaron Friedrich, Bryan Friedrich, Jamie Friedrich, Denise Beckley, Joe Beckley, Chris Beckley, Sarah Reagan, Michael Sandlin, John Sandlin, Matt Sandlin; and fourteen great-grandchildren: Angel Beckley, William Fisher, Stephanie Scott, Julia Muncy, Liz Muncy, Jordan Reagan, Blake Sandlin, Bailey Sandlin, Knox Sandlin, Scout Sandlin, Eden Sandlin, Madison Sandlin, Nolan Sandlin, and Chip Sandlin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, two sisters, Helen Coffman and Frances Stacy, and four brothers Earl Day, Paul Day, Charlie Day, and Tom Day.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Bloomington with Fr. Mike Fritsch Officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis. Friends may visit the family from 4:00 to 8:00 Thursday evening (07/07) at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel in Bloomington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of I.U. Health, Bloomington Hospital or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
