

Barbara Ann “Bobbi” Mathis, age 68, of Bloomington, died Saturday afternoon at her residence. Born June 8, 1946 in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Fred and Nell (Grape) Kerr. She had worked for Bloomington Business Machines, as an entrepreneur operating her own children’s daycare and for Bank One. She was very active with the B.P.O.E. Elk’s Lodge #446, AmVets, Moose Lodge ladies auxiliaries and with supporting the efforts of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She was a savvy business woman and a gifted artist. She loved to sew, paint, write and draw and also enjoyed singing and dancing. She was of the Christian faith and formerly attended Mt. Gilead Christian Church.
Bobbi is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Jeffery “Marc” Mathis, whom she married April 24, 1964; two sons and daughter-in-law, Tod and Teresa Mathis and Troy Mathis and one daughter and son-in-law, Mendy Mathis-Kossmann and Kurt Babcock, all of Bloomington; one brother, Dan Kerr, of Bloomington; thirteen grandchildren, Jeff Mathis, Kayte Mathis, Tiffany Lentz, Ashley Wilson, Alisha Wilson, Ania Winders, Michael Mathis, Jonathan Mathis, Jacob Mathis, Jordan Mathis, Jacque Kossmann, Myles Babcock and Tess Babcock and three great-grandchildren, Laikyn Lentz, Emily Mathis and Wyatt Mathis.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Linda Sowders and Carolyn Ayers.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday at the Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel; 700 W. Gourley Pike. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
