

Harlis Edward Lucas, age 72, of Bloomington, died October 29 at his residence. Born April 14, 1944 in Bloomington, he was the son of Harley and Hattie Violet (Koontz) Lucas. He worked as a cook at several different sorority houses at Indiana University. He previously had worked at the Big Wheel and Frisch’s Big Boy restaurants. He had participated in league bowling at Classic Lanes and loved playing his guitar and enjoying listening to the “oldies” music, especially Elvis Presley and Conway Twitty. He was a bit of a “sports nut” and loved following the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Harlis is survived by his daughter, Constance “Connie” Dorsey, of Desert Hot Springs, Calif.; two sisters, Wanda Goodman, of Bloomington and Ida (Bruce) Kelly; of Smithville, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Bonita “Bonnie” Stewart, one brother, Jessie “Jug Head” Lucas and one sister, Clara Harden.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel; 700 W. Gourley Pike with Rev. Bruce Kelly officiating.
