I met Jon for the first time about 20 years ago. He was just getting started with one truck and no employees in Glens Falls, NY. I hired him to haul away old client records that needed to be taken to the local trash burning plant on a secure basis. He told me that I could trust him to do exactly what I instructed him to do...and I knew right away that I could. We stayed in touch and eventually he engaged my firm for accounting and tax services. Jon worked hard and was committed to excellence and integrity in everything he did. I believe he did the work of two men everyday from getting up early to drive the route to maintaining his accounting records late at night. Eventually I helped him sell his residential trash business to a large regional company and he moved to Indiana. It wasn't long before he started a new residential waste business based where he lived and with his wife Staci's help, he built it up to be even more successful than the business he sold in New York. Jon was a private man and I did not know about his illness until this past November. Over those couple months of working with him, I was amazed by his faith and his continued focus on making sure Staci and Cole would be as financially secure as possible. I was blessed and inspired by our last few phone calls near the end...not knowing at that time it was near the end. It was a pleasure to know him. I will miss him.

Jon was my husband, my best friend and my true love. We shared 8.5 years together, with many laughs and many tears along the way. He knew me better than I knew myself and he brought out the best in me.  I loved Jon's sense of humor and how he would always make me laugh.  He had a special way of calming me down when I was stressed or was caught up in my emotions ...and most of the time just hearing his voice would help. It made me happy when I could do or say something that would brighten his day.  We spent hours upon hours talking on the phone while he was working by himself.  Even today, when my cell phone rings or I get text alerts I sometimes think its Jon and then I'm sad when I realize it couldn't be him. He worked so hard at our business and was gone a lot, but we enjoyed our time together in the evenings and weekends.  I loved cooking and baking for him and just being his wife. It was wonderful watching him with our son, Cole. He was Jon's pride and joy and they loved being together. Cole is like his daddy in so many ways and I see Jon every time I look into his eyes.  Jon has been in heaven for seven months now. We are thankful that he is no longer in pain but we miss him every day. Even though Jon isn't physically with us here on earth, he will be in our hearts forever. I will cherish my memories of my dear husband and I'll keep them alive always.

My daddy loved me very much. Sometimes when I look at his pictures it makes me cry. I miss everything about Daddy. I miss playing with him and watching TV together. Our favorite shows were Star Trek, Mighty Machines, Bill Nye the Science Guy, Hercules, Shark Tank, and American Pickers. Daddy was real funny. His jokes and funny faces made me laugh ...so did his tickling me. He was also really good at scaring Mommy! He liked fixing things and coo-cooing loudly. He loved chasing me and calling me Ba-Ba-Booey. Daddy gave me the best hugs! I especially liked when I did running hugs over and over. He would pretend that they hurt him. I like that he taught me how to play video games. I will miss him teaching me more things and being here with me. I love you, Daddy!

Cole  5.5 years old

Just found out about Jon's passing a few days ago.  He has been my trash man since 2004, and I found out quickly that he became a faithful and dedicated businessman, who cared about His family, and he considered His customers extended family.  I remember many times he would stop by my home and when he found me at home, would immediately stop what he was doing to say HI, knowing he had hundreds of homes to visit.  He would even spend quite a bit of time talking about his business, and how he so loved what he did.  There were even times I would forget to take my bucket to the curb, and he would slow down knowing I was chasing his truck all the way!!  Most competitors would speed up, but not Jon.  He was smiling 99% of the time, and was always willing to serve anyone; even at His own expense.  He will be dearly missed, and we pray for his family...

On June 20th, I found out about the passing of "Jon." (I think this is how he told me he spelled his name.)
My wife Jackie and I were shocked. We both wish to express our deepest sympathy for the loss of Jon, to his wife and child. 
He was a very special man and also a very honest and respectful man. He was a hard working man and very proud of his job and family business. We wish more people were like him. 
As a customer of his, we spoke many times through the years and we will miss him.  We are praying for your family, Jon.

Jon--What can be said that hasn't already been stated by others? I agree wholeheartedly with every comment made. He was an amazing man in so many ways. Jon was our son-in-love. We thought of him as a son and though times were frustrating, as in any relationship, forgiveness was always given and accepted.  Jon was given a special assignment by God--to love and make happy one special girl. Our girl, Staci.  He succeeded in that, and in so doing, created one special little boy, Cole.  I will be forever grateful to Jon and his well-spent life on this earth and look forward to our eternal heavenly reunion some day.

From the first time I met Jon (about 8 years ago) it was obvious to me that he was quick-witted, very intelligent and very self-disciplined.  I don't think I have ever known anyone with his level of formal education who had such a good understanding of business, economics, the stock market, etc.  To establish and run his business by himself for so long was amazing to me and without becoming so disciplined in managing his time I don't know how he could have done it.  During one Christmas holiday period I volunteered to go along and help him on his route for one day.  I thought I was in pretty good shape at that time but after climbing in and out of his truck for a couple of hours, I was worn out. Jon normally did all the work himself so his standard practice was to pull up, stop, open his door, jump out (never using the step), load the trash, then hop back in the truck and go on to the next stop.  I always thought I could work about as hard as anyone for as long as it took but I knew that day I had met my match plus more.  Jon was a good husband and father and I was always proud to be his father-in-law.

Jon was a quiet man who kept to himself so we don't feel we "really" got to see many of his great qualities that Staci did. However, it was very obvious that Jon was a man of integrity, hard-working, driven, ambitious and had a never-give-up attitude. Those qualities served him very well, especially when building and growing his business and those are qualities all men should aspire to have. Our most special memory of Jon is filled with both happiness and sadness. It was the moment Staci had informed us that Jon had surrendered his life to Christ Jesus while in the midst of Jon battling cancer. Because of Jon's decision, we will have an eternity to "really" get to know Jon - a time we all have to look forward to!

We met Jon in Terre Haute when he and Staci came to visit us for the first time. We ate at Cheeseburger in Paradise and had a great time. We learned there that Jon was fun-loving, and could take life seriously but not take himself too seriously. From there we found out about his business, and his work ethic. He took his business seriously because he took his clients seriously. His diligence and perseverance is always something we will remember and try to emulate. We're so thankful Jon became our brother-in-law. And while we didn't get to spend nearly enough time with him here, we so look forward to spending all eternity with him on the other side. We grieve for him, and for Staci and Cole, but not without hope. We're so grateful for the grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus, who pursued Jon and brought him to Himself. We miss you, Jon, and we look forward to seeing you again.

Well where to start?? I first met John in the 1st grade as he lived two doors down from me. Fast forward a couple years we grew up together fishing, horseshoes, swimming, building forts, etc, etc... Then I moved to SGF we still remained GREAT friends. My memories of John are so amazing, he was a great friend always putting others before himself. I truly regret  not being able to get out west and see him. Stacie & Cole you are in my thoughts all the time! RIP JBW

I remember the first time I heard about Jon from Staci. Happiness was oozing through the phone as she gushed about him. I may not have spent a lot of time with him but I know that his love made my sweet friend incredibly happy.  He was always quiet and reserved but made an effort to speak to me and I appreciated that. Coming from a family of quiet men, I understand the significance of that gesture.  Jon was a great dad. His love for Cole shines through in pictures. I loved seeing the pics of them being goofy on Facebook. I'm positive there are some great stories that go along with those pics.  I look forward to hearing them!

Our family had the great privilege of meeting Jon through our granddaughter, Emily Eagan. Our entire family immediately fell in love with Jon when he moved here from New York. He was included in all our family celebrations - Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthdays, etc. He became like a grandson to both of us. 
He was so excited about the new business that he started, which became very successful. We were so proud of his success and how intelligent and hardworking he was. 
Staci came into Jon's life and became his devoted wife. We fell in love with her, also. When precious baby Cole came into their lives, we rejoiced that Jon had a perfect little family. 
We were so very happy that Jon gave his life to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and that we have the promise that we will all be together again in Heaven.
We miss you, Jon.

We first met Jon in the fall of 2003 when he moved into our apartment house. He was just starting his new business- Express. He seemed like a young man that knew where he was going- always working, trying to find his place in the sun. At times, he seemed to be lonely. Then he met Staci. We saw a light in his eyes that we had not seen before. After we met Staci, we saw the same light in her eyes! We saw more than light, we saw joy and peace!  Jon loved his family very much. The joy he shared with his family is worth more than some people that might live to be 100 years old and never have that joy! Whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord! Romans 14:7-8

I met Jon through work and he was always very fair and considerate to work with. I continually enjoy the level of detail that he put into everything we worked on together and just looking through his pictures is a great reminder of how he could lighten the room just by showing his "Big Smile".

I meet Jon at my Barber Shop over 10 years ago. He was always a hard worker who shared in the entrepreneurial spirit,as do I. We often vented about our business frustrations,and would try to come up with solutions.He ran his business with excellence and was a great friend. My prayers are with Staci and Cole that they will see Jon again someday. Carter Longardner

I met Jon through work as he was a customer of mine.  All of my experiences with Jon were very pleasant.  Jon was a great guy who cared very much about his customers and that showed as we discussed getting his trucks back on the road.  Jon will be dearly missed and was a pleasure doing business with.
