

Mary Elizabeth Bechtel, age 86, of Bloomington, died Saturday evening at Garden Villa. Born January 9, 1927, she was the daughter of Harold and Catherine (Gillespie) Mood. She retired from R.C.A. She enjoyed playing Bridge, painting with oils and traveling, especially to destinations such as the Holy Land, Holland, Germany, Austria and France.
She is survived by her daughters, Helen Stephenson, of Bloomington and Holly (George) Welther, of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Phyllis Ramberger, of Ft. Myers, Florida and Betty Jo Carter, of Ellettsville; one brother, Ronald (Carol) Mood, of Bloomington; seven grandchildren, John Stephenson, Jr., of Bloomington, Teresa Muckley, of Columbus, Indiana, Renee (Chris) Peters, of Powell, Ohio, Jennifer Stephenson, of Tucson, Arizona, Jason (Kimberly) Welther, of Gahana, Ohio, Mark Welther, of Columbus, Ohio and Jayna Laubsch, of Ellettsville and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Mood and Catherine Mood Raddis, her husband, Zack Bechtel, Sr., her son, Zack Bechtel, Jr., one infant daughter, Cynthia Bechtel and one son-in-law, John Stephenson, Sr.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. Frank VanAllen officiating. Entombment will follow in Valhalla Mausoleum. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary and from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.
