Peggy R. Dorsey, age 80, of Bloomington passed away on Saturday at the Richland-Bean Blossom Health Care Center in Ellettsville with her family by her side. She was born December 1, 1937 in Clear Creek, Indiana, the daughter of Chester Lee and Maude May (McGlothlin) Pettit. She married William Robert “Tennessee” Dorsey on January 27, 1979 in Bloomington. Peggy went to Bloomington High School. She had worked at Western Skateland and later for the Highland Village Laundromat. She loved doing crossword puzzles, growing and caring for flowers and spending time with her family and her cat. She was a member of the Ladies Auxillaries of the Bloomington V.F.W., Moose Lodge and the Bloomington AmVets. She was a former member of First United Methodist Church.
Peggy is survived by her sons; Lewis Hatfield II and Daniel R. (Carrie) Dorsey, all of Solsberry, one grandson, Jared Dorsey, one step-granddaughter, Ericka (Kyle) Scales and two great-grandsons, Michael Scales and Jaxon Dorsey. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Tennessee” Dorsey on December 30, 1996, her parents, two sisters, Joan Nunn and Barbara Reynolds and her brother, Ralph E. Deckard.
The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel; 700 W. Gourley Pike with Pastor Joe Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
