Robert R. Burt, 84, of Bloomington, IN passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013. He was born September 21, 1928 in Chicago, IL the son of the late Carl and Lela Burt. Robert graduated in 1952 from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He lived in Gary, IN from 1952 -1985 then moved to Bloomington, IN. He retired in 1983 as a Metallurgist with U.S. Steel in Chicago, IL. He was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time at his church, working at the Community Kitchen, camping, traveling, photography, and spending time with family and friends. He will be deeply missed. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Joan E. Burt; his son, Paul (Dee) Burt of Bloomington, IN; his three daughters, Debra Burt of San Francisco, CA, Diane (Stevan) Cooper of Colorado Springs, CO, and Janet (Jeff) Hughes of Woodinville, WA; a brother, John (Joyce) Burt of Bowling Green, OH; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Marjorie Wilson and a brother, James Burt. Memorial services to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at St. Thomas Lutheran Church. Memorial donations may be made to St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 3800 E.
