March 23, 1965February 22, 2020

Steven Allen Long, age 54, of Bloomington went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning (02/22/2020) at the I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospice House. He was born on March 23, 1965 in New Albany, Indiana to Nellie (Bruce) Long, of Bloomington and the late James Long. Steve graduated from Bloomington High School South, Class of 1983. After high school he worked at Lake Monroe. In 1987, his brother Greg helped him get a job at Bloomington Hospital. He continued as a telecommunications specialist there until 2013. In 2017 he began working for The Eye Center of Southern Indiana. Steve found so much joy in the staff and physicians. They truly became family, for which he was so grateful. Steve loved spending time with his family. He and his son, Nick, enjoyed sports, archery and racing together. He loved all kinds of music and was a whiz at music trivia. In addition to his mother, Steve is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Diann (Sebree) Long, his loving son, Nick Long; two brothers, Gary (Lynn) Long, of Cincinnati, Ohio and Brian (Debby) Long of Bloomington; three nieces, Jessica (Aaron) Posey, of Ellettsville, Karin Long, of Chicago, Illinois and Ellie Long, of Cincinnati, Ohio; two nephews, Max Long, of Cincinnati and Jeremy Long, of Ellettsville. Steve is also survived by a great-niece, Savanna Posey and great- nephews, Landen and Scotty Long and Owen and Bennett Posey . Steve was preceded in death by his father and older brother, Greg Long. Please help us celebrate his life during a visitation on Monday (02/24/2020) from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel; 700 W. Just wanted to say that you never saw Steve without a smile on his face. No matter the job, he was always willing to help. He always talked about the loves of his life, Diann and Nick. He is going to be missed by so many people. Betty Messel

I also know Steve and Diann from working at the hospital. They both always had a smile on their face. Wonderful couple. They both know God and that makes a difference. That is what gets you through.
I couldn't make the viewing and I apologize for that but hope to see you in Walmart soon so I can give you a hug and more words of encouragement.
Steve's journey on earth has ended and look at all the people he has touched. Praying for strength and comfort for your family in this hard time.
God Bless you Diann and Nick

Steven was always so quiet. Comes from being the youngest of 4 boys I’m sure. Since Nellie & I had 8 kids between us our favorite place to go was the park. Steve’s kind gentle personality was easy to love.
