Obituary of Violet Wildora Cowden
Violet Wildora Love Cowden, 94 of Greenwood and formerly of Bloomington died Saturday. August 8, 2020 in Greenwood Village. She was born February 2, 1926 in Bloomfield to William Henry Love and Altona Pearson Love. She was retired from Bloomington High School North. Survivors include her daughter, Sandi (Richard) Davis of Indianapolis; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lester Cowden, five children, Linda Kinser, Gregory VanBuskirk, Tony VanBuskirk, Debra Thompson, and Leslie Cowden; seven siblings, Dorcas Love Gardener, Bea Love Cox, Grace Love Graves, Fay Jacobs, Elmo Love, Fred Love and Lucille Bland; two grandsons, Shannon Cowden and David Hatton; a granddaughter, Amber Cowden; and a great grandson, Gavin Frye. Memberships include Woodhaven Christian Church, and the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries and she was the Queen Mother of the Red Hat Society in Bloomington. In addition to working at Bloomington High School North she had worked at Sarkes Tarzian, RCA, was a bookkeeper for IGA and several other businesses. Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday, August 13, 2020 at 1:00 PM in Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, 700 W Gourley Pike, with Pastor John Baker officiating, burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. There will be a gathering of family and friends prior to services on Thursday from 11:00 AM to service time also in the funeral home.
