Walter "Walt" Lee Hendrickson

Walter Lee Hendrickson, 90, of Bloomington died Saturday, November 7, 2020 in I.U. Health Hospice House. He was born September 9, 1930 in Bloomington to Abraham “Abe” Hendrickson and Ocie Fulford Hendrickson. He was a retired set up man from NSA Crane.

Survivors include his companion, Marcella Johnson; two sons, David Hendrickson of Dallas and Gary (Kay) Hendrickson of Columbus, Ohio; five grandchildren, Benjamin Hendrickson, Morgan Hendrickson, Jessica (Chris) Stadler, Kimberly Hendrickson and Tara (Mark) Urbanski; two great grandchildren, Evangeline and Elizabeth Stadler; a sister, Edna Staley; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Donna Eileen Patton Hendrickson; eight siblings, May Mitchell, Clarisse Hendrickson, Rui (Ralph) Canum, Georgia (Bill) Pearson, Hilda (Lowell) Helms, Carl (Alma) Hendrickson, Jake Hendrickson and Evelyn (Joe) Moore; and a brother in law, Harry Staley.

Memberships include Stanford Lodge # 173 F&AM, Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 1081, Elks Lodge 446, AMVETS Post 2000, and the American Legion, Burton Woolery Post # 18. Walt was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He loved playing music and singing, pitching horse shoes and archery where he had won may tournaments and for a while owned and operated Walt’s Archery Shop.

There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM with a Masonic Memorial Service at 7:30 PM in Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene & Harrell Chapel, 700 W Gourley Pike. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, November 12th at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Kyle Crafton officiating, Mausoleum Entombment will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.

So sorry for the loss of this wonderful man. Although I did not know him well I did know he was very well thought of by many. Nothing but good was ever mentioned.
