Wanda Marie Kale Frye

Wanda was the daughter of the late Carl and Maggie Kale of Ellettsville, Indiana. She married her husband William (Wig) I. Frye on September 26, 1947, and they were blessed to have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last year.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Harold and Carl Delane Kale, and a daughter, Sabrina Mae Burton.

Wanda worked for a number of years at the RCA Plant in Bloomington. She, however, will be remembered most at the matriarch of her family when it came to organizing family get-togethers throughout the years. She complimented her passion for family gatherings with her well-known meals and specialty dishes. She was an avid gardener and loved to can large quantities of vegetables throughout the summer. She also enjoyed working with her husband Wig on their farm where they lived for over 60 years.

Wanda was a lifelong resident in Monroe County, and she was a member of the Mount Pleasant Christian Church. She was an active member of the Mt. Pleasant Ladies Aide and was extensively involved in their quilting group and associated church bazaars. Wanda and Wig were long time Edgewood Mustang fans and spent many evenings attending basketball and softball games with their close friends Don and Sue Cooter.

In addition to her husband Wig, survivors include: two sisters, Dortha Prather of Gosport and Vivian Young of Ellettsville; her two daughters, Brenda Adams and her husband Tim and Vickie Frye both of Ellettsville; her son, Bill Frye and his wife Brenda of Sun City West, Arizona; her eight grandchildren, Tawnya (Adams) Wood, Tara (Adams) Taylor, David Adams, Kyle Stubblefield, Amber Stubblefield, Zachary Frye, Ashley Copas, and Ali Abrell; and her eight great-grandchildren, Elie and Isaac Wood, Madison, Austin, and Hanna Taylor, Kennedy Stubblefield; and Seth and Gracie Morris.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 11, 2013 at Mount Pleasant Christian Church in Gosport, IN. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary Greene & Harrell Chapel and also on Friday at the church one hour prior to the service.
