Adele B. Galbraith 1935-2019
Adele B. Galbraith, 83, of Delray Beach Florida, formerly of Boca Raton, Florida and Norwalk, Connecticut passed away faithfully in our Lord on September 28, 2019 after a long illness. Adele was born in Norwalk, Connecticut on November 13, 1935 to her late parents Joseph S. and Anna Toth Budy. Adele had two brothers, the late Elmer R. Buddy of Norwalk, and living brother Edward J. Budy Sr. of Orlando, Florida. She was married to the late James D. Galbraith in March of 1956 in Norwalk where they raised two daughters. Adele was a loving, creative and inspirational mother to both her daughters and a polished career lady. In her early adult years she became an accomplished pianist and organist bringing her passionate love of music to family and friends. As a homemaker, she was a creative seamstress having had her own dressmaking and tailoring business serving a group of elite clientele. Having made her own wardrobe, as well as for her daughters, she was exceptionally talented in her hand crafted beadworks, embroideries and appliqués. Of Hungarian heritage, she was a superb cook in Hungarian cuisine and baking. Generously spirited, humorous, and always smartly and stylishly dressed, her academic and strong command of the English language propelled her into a career with Save the Children of Westport Connecticut, managing word processing for nearly two decades. She especially enjoyed serving as Chairwoman for numerous fundraising events. After moving permanently with her husband from Norwalk to Boca Raton in 1981, she furthered her career in property management as a complete professional with Arvida Corporation for over a decade. Before retiring, she spent her last working decade with Broad and Cassel, Attorneys at Law in Boca Raton. She frequently declared that her finest of friends and colleagues were all made at Broad and Cassel as well as Save the Children. Retirement years brought her back to her hand made original designs. She fashioned hundreds of ladies handbags where 100% of the proceeds were donated to Disabled American Veterans which Adele was a fervent supporter of. She also spent much of her time jovially mentoring friends and neighbors in creative sewing and the articulate expressive use of language. She is survived by her daughters, who will deeply miss her:: Susan Galbraith Zimmerman (David) of Greenwich, Connecticut, Tracey Galbraith Stroh (Donald-deceased) of Delray Beach, Florida, one stepgranddaughter, and several nieces and nephews. Tracey served as her mother’s devoted caregiver in her final 4 years. Adele remains eternally grateful to those friends and family members who reached out with their generous time, care and encouragement. Special gratitude and sincerest appreciation to Bryan Moniz of Port St. Lucie, Florida for his sensitive, unwavering support and assistance. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans. All services are private.

I first met Adele while going for a walk and was looking forward to meeting my new neighbors. She astounded me with fascinating anecdotes: I found her to be very smart, sweet and to be a wonderful neighbor. Her two daughters, Tracy and Susan, are also smart and sweet and kind: Adele knew how to raise great kids, and that's about the best thing a person can do in this world. I, and others in the neighborhood, will miss her very much.
