Julian,  The love of a Mother for her son and the love of a son for his Mother was absolutely evident in your relationship.

REMEMBERING  ANGELINA  GAZZANO

Dear Julian:


On behalf of the Diversity Committee, School Board of Broward County, I extend to you, and to your family, our sincerest and deepest condolences on the Home Going of your Mother, Ms. Angelina Gazzano.


While we never had the opportunity to meet her personally, during our meetings, we did know her through the person, the man, Julian Gazzano, she birthed, raised and nurtured, her son, our colleague on the Diversity Committee. Clearly, Julian, she, and your dad, did a magnificent job in your becoming the person with whom we are privileged to work on behalf of All of Broward's students.


As you carried out your responsibilities of care-giver for your mom, and care-supervisor / coordinator of medical, nursing and social services staffs serving your mom, during the last years of your her life, I watched in amazement as you did the same for your father and step-mother, in different parts of Florida all while moving through your own life and career and service on the Diversity Committee. In all of this, you are doing exceptionally well and are to be commended. Mazel Tov!


Because of your diligence and loving-kindness as the good son, the dutiful son, you will receive, I am certain, the full promise of the only one of the Ten Commandments with a promise ---- “Honor Your Father and your Mother”. And, that promise? Simply: “That your days may be long upon the land” (Exodus 20:12)!


Julian, thanks for your contributions to the obliteration of that tired, sexist, narrow-minded, stereotype of men being incapable of giving care to their parents --- especially our mothers --- at the end of their lives here on Earth, as they transition to their lives in Eternity.


You, Harve, me, and other men both on, and beyond, the Diversity Committee are doing, at the end of our parents' lives, what our parents did for us at the beginning of our own lives.


Natural actions that complete the Full Circle of Life! And, in this, men are as capable as women as care-givers and nurturers: (Though I have been told otherwise by some.) Know that this will be one of the topics of my presentation over the next week during my maternal extended family's 2012 Family Re-Union banquet on Miami Beach.


Last, Julian, know that we lift up you, your wife, children, grandchildren, father, step-mother, and all other family members in prayer all while asking Elohim-God --- the God of Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, and Jacob-Israel --- to continue to guide you, to encourage you, and to strengthen you as each of you, individually, and all of you, collectively, move through, and beyond, this inevitable yet temporary “valley of the shadow of death” (Psalm 23): This in the Mighty, Healing and All-Powerful name of Jesus, Our Christ, Our Lord, and Our Savior (Yeshua HaMashiach)!
