Bertha E Godawa
August 6, 1925 – June 13, 2019
Bertha E Godawa, 93, was born August 6, 1925 in Manhattan NYC,N.Y. to John and Bertha (Bocik) Godawa. Her living memories live on with son, Phillip E Godawa, daughter, Susan C Swing, grandson and daughter-in-law, Blake and Lindsey Swing, brother-in-law, Erwin(Joe) Godawa and extended family of nieces and nephews.
Her never ending love for her husband, Edward Godawa(deceased), family and friends is an example for all. Her passion for animals was limitless. She was a Sports Lover Extreme, especially her beloved Chicago “Cubbies”, Warriors and Florida State Seminoles. One could often find her in heavy debate over them!
She became known simply as “Grammie” to most! Most who know her, left with a smile on their face.
An “Almost 94th Birthday Celebration of Life” luncheon is being planned. Information will be forthcoming
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League or PURA Syndrome Foundation.

I met Bertha over 8 years ago and it was an instant friendship. Bertha was from the generation where respect, morals, honesty and character defined a person and she had them all. In addition, she always made me laugh with her brutal truth. She was so smart and never missed anything. She told me how much she loved her children and husband, but her grandson, Blake, was the “apple of her eye”! I will miss her humor and wit. She will be missed by all that knew her, but her smile and love will live on with us.
