I met Brisa when she became my team leader in Amex. She helped me come out of my shell and encouraged me through different phases of my career. She was always there to lend support and a smile when others needed it.  

She later became a friend that offered the best food recommendations and funny conversations. My husband, her and I often had the silliest moments just talking in Amex hallways. When Camila and my daughter were born a few months apart we swapped advice/support on motherhood.

 I am thankful to have known her, she was full of light and goodness.  My heart goes out to the Malcolm, the Romero family and most of all Camila.

Brisa... I'm heartbroken to hear of your passing. I'm sad I never told you the impact you had on my life, even in our brief days of knowing each other.

We met in 2004. It was my first semester of high school, and I enrolled in yearbook class. I remember being scared because I didn't know a single soul in that classroom.

You were the editor-in-chief and such an inspiring leader, even as a young teenager. You expected nothing but great work, but you united us all. You put my freshman nerves at ease and showed me so much kindness.

In yearbook, I sat across from your sister Joanna, who is the only other classmate I can remember besides you. She was one of my first friends in high school. You both had hearts of gold.

You were someone who saw my writing and believed in me like very few people in my life had at that point. I was just 14 years old, unsure about what I wanted to pursue in life, but your encouragement made a difference.

After my semester in yearbook ended, I remember you approaching me in the halls, saying you wanted me to come back and serve as copy editor. That you needed me. I'll never forget that conversation. It was the first time I ever felt like my work was worthy or that it mattered.

I now have made a career out of writing and expressing my creativity, and I'm not sure if it would have happened without you. I wish I thanked you sooner.

Although your life was far too short, I hope you and your family know that you made your days count by how you lifted other people up.

I will always remember you. You will be sorely missed.

Brisa  you were such a wonderful person always smiling and laughing . I remember when I first came out of training you were teaching me about the different skills and what a champion was . I was never able to keep a straight face because I had this dancehall song on my mind  from DJ Bravo  in which I taught you the dance so everytime I saw you in the hall  even years later you start moving your arms  doing the dance yelling  “Champion! Champion!”  Lol it was so funny it always made my day .

I remember Brisa all through elementary to high school. We lived in the same neighborhood and shared all memories. We got married in the same year and had our 1st borns months apart. She was a beautiful soul, so caring and loving. She had a heart of pure gold.  I am ever so greatful to have had the opportunity to have known her.
