My daughter, Brittany was hurt December 6th, when she fell off her ATV and hit her head. She was with friends and because she was acting differently, they flew her to Lee Memorial Trauma Center in Ft Myers. They found bleeding in her brain and had to place her in an induced coma. Doctors said the injury was very serious. She is so young and healthy but, 7 days later, on December 14th, 2014 at 12 noon the doctors at Lee Memorial Hospital, declared my beautiful Brittany died of complications from traumatic brain injury and pneumonia.
Her incredible smile could brighten anywhere she went. Her slightly goofy laugh and that little snort from laughing so hard would always get me rolling. She had that "can do" attitude that made her jump into any adventure. From her first adventure, buying that huge pick-up truck at 19, moving into a townhouse with her girlfriends when she was
20 years old, or backpacking through Europe with 2 good friends at 22, my little peanut was a dynamo of energy. Even with her busy work and social schedule she still found time to take her daddy to church or breakfast or the gym. She was beautiful, funny, smart and so full of that special kind of life that just draws people together.
Brittany graduated from Palm Beach State College with a degree in Emergency Medical Technology.
She completed the EMT / PM program. Brittany studied so hard for the state paramedic exam but didn't get the chance to take it. The state certification exam was scheduled for December 10th, 4 days after her injury. Brittany will still be able to save many lives. In accordance with her wishes, she donated her vital organs so that others could live. Brittany saved more lives in one day than most EMS workers save in a career.
I think she would have liked that.
I will never feel the warmth of my little princesses’
hand in mine again. And, while that thought is very painful, I think I can ease my suffering and comfort our family and friends by celebrating Brittany’s life with respect and honor. She is the best of the best.
I am so proud of her. God received a better angel.
