Carmela Parisi passed away on July 21, 2020 at her home in The Woodlands, Texas. Born on October 29, 1929 in East Orange, New Jersey, she graduated from West Side High School in Newark, NJ. She met her husband, John Parisi and they raised two sons and two daughters in Spotswood, NJ.
Carmela loved to travel, read and spend time with friends. She was happiest surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a servant’s heart and was frequently helping out at church or bringing meals to friends.
Carmela re-entered the business sector in 1974 and was employed by Dames & Moore, an international engineering firm, for seven years before opening her own secretarial business. She returned to Dames & Moore in 1987 as Accounting & Collections Manager until 1991. In 1993, she took a position with UT Products, Inc as Secretary to the President and Assistant to Controller. In 1997 she joined Management Assist, Inc until she retired and moved to Texas in 2005.
Carmela was a charter member of the Columbiettes in Spotswood, NJ and a member in the Boca Raton, FL chapter. She and her husband belonged to St. Jude in Boca Raton and St. Anthony of Padua in The Woodlands. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, St. Martha’s Ministry and enjoyed being the Sr. Pals’ trip coordinator for eight years.
Carmela is preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Lena LaManna; her beloved husband of over 59 years, John Parisi; and her brother Rocco LaManna.
She is survived by her son John (Sharon) Parisi; son Joseph (Ingrid) Parisi; daughter Lynn Parisi; and daughter Patricia (Chris) Van Horn; seven grandchildren, Kevin (Trish) Parisi, Melissa Pallone, Joseph (Yuko) Parisi, Michael Parisi, Katherine (Austin) Musselman, Andrew Van Horn and Tyler Van Horn; five great-grandchildren, Kristina Palazzolo, Thomas, Jaden, Dylan and Macy Parisi; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The funeral and internment will take place in Boca Raton, Florida. A memorial mass will be held at St. Anthony of Padua in The Woodlands, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the American Cancer Society.
