Concetta "Connie" Cozza

Connie Cozza peacefully passed away at her home in Boca Raton, Florida on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at the age of 99. Angelo, her husband of 75 years, predeceased her in March and having been together for so many years, she was ready to follow and be with him once again. She leaves behind her children: daughter Maria Cozza Levix of Boca Raton, son Vincent Cozza and his wife Barbara of Gouldsboro, Pa, three grandchildren, Justin Cozza and wife Kelly, Trevor Cozza and wife Nikki and Megan Cozza, as well as five great grandchildren, Sophia, Jack, Maximus, Rome and Matteo.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Italian immigrants, Antonio and Emma Lamitola, Connie quickly became popular for her kindness, sense of humor and winning smile. She caught the eye of a handsome young man, Angelo, in the window of the shoe repair shop as he would clean hats and flirt when she walked by with her friends. Connie and Angelo got together at the age of 15 and the only thing that kept them apart was Angelo’s service during World War II. Upon his return they married and had a long and loving life together. They worked hand and hand to give their two children a good life and taught them the value of family, commitment, respect and kindness. This was extended in her role of “Nanny” to her three grandchildren as she enjoyed spending time with them whenever possible. Connie and Angelo relocated to Florida from Smithtown, New York, in 1974 and quickly fell in love with the sunshine state and convinced other family members to join them here.

Connie’s working, years were in the garment industry as a very talented seamstress with a creative ability to improvise on design and she exceeded at her craft. She enjoyed sketching and painting, knitting, ceramics, gardening, music, and was a true movie aficionado, never missing a Henry Fonda movie. A great cook, Connie was always ready to entertain family and friends. Her legendary Christmas Eve dinners were an event not to be missed. As residents of the Boca Verde East Condominium, Connie joined her husband in orchestrating clubhouse activities with monthly birthday parties, weekly movie and game nights and holiday activities.

Connie was a loved and respected member of her community; friends and neighbors were always found at her home enjoying each other’s company. She touched many hearts in her 99 years and was especially devoted to her husband and family. Her good nature and love of life will be missed by all who knew her.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, July 7th from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Babione-Kraeer Funeral Home. A Catholic mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc on Thursday, July 8th at 10:30 am., followed by a reception at Babione-Kraeer Funeral Home prior to proceeding to the final resting place where Connie and her beloved husband Angelo will be laid to rest in a military service at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth at 2:00 p.m.
