August 26, 1946 – September 6, 2026
Diane Joyce Brewer, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on September 6, 2026, shortly after celebrating her 80th birthday.
Diane was born on August 26, 1946, in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. At just 19 years old, she married and bravely left her homeland to begin a new life in America, but she always remained a Kiwi at heart.
As a young mother, Diane showed remarkable strength and courage. With her husband frequently away on deployment with the U.S. Navy, much of their time was spent as “the three girls”—Diane, Marnie, and Karen. Far from her New Zealand family, she worked as a nurse aide while raising her two little girls and creating a home filled with love and cherished traditions.
Some of the best memories came from the simplest moments. Saturdays meant putting on music, cleaning the house together, and changing the sheets—a family ritual so ingrained that Marnie and Karen still laugh that Saturday is “Clean Sheets Saturday”. Diane threw wonderful birthday parties filled with New Zealand recipes and treats, keeping the traditions of her homeland alive for her daughters. She remained a Kiwi at heart throughout her life, and a good serving of fish and chips was always her favorite meal.
She is survived by her two daughters, Marnie Brewer Herren and Karen Brewer Biren and her husband, Rob, and her beloved grandchildren, Jacob and Camille, who brought her tremendous joy.
Diane cherished being a grandmother and loved simply being part of her grandchildren’s lives. She treasured tea parties, sleepovers, and soccer practices with Camille; attending swim meets, orchestra concerts, and Grandparents Day with Jacob; and going to Chili’s with both grandchildren. To Diane, time together didn’t need to be elaborate to be special. Being with them was the special occasion.
Diane found joy in the little things that made life beautiful. She loved music, reading, baking, gardening, browsing thrift shops, fashion, and, of course, taking selfies. She enjoyed preparing a fancy place setting even for a simple meal and spending time on her patio overlooking the lake.
Diane was known for her devout faith, compassion, generosity, and gift for making others feel seen, valued, and loved. Her gentle spirit brought comfort to those around her, and her kindness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Though her absence will be deeply felt, Diane’s love, laughter, warmth, and beautiful example will continue to live on in her family and in all those whose lives she touched.
To those who knew and loved her, Diane truly was the sweetest and kindest person ever—and her life will forever be cherished
