Dick was born in Lianshui, Jiangsu Province China, on September 13, 1928. He graduated from the Naval Academy of the Republic of China in 1943 and continued on to serve his country for 20 years. He received a Medal of Honor from President Chiang Kai-Shek for his service in World War II.
Dick married Anne in Taipei, Taiwan on April 29, 1961; they were married for 57 years. He traveled the world as a Chief Engineer for Merchant Marine Companies for 16 years before immigrating to the United States with his family in 1978 to pursue the American dream.
He and his wife, Anne, owned and operated several businesses before retiring in 2000. After retirement, they were very active grandparents and members of their local church. Dick cherished spending time with his family and friends.
He loved to play Sudoku, Word Search Puzzles, Mah Jong, and cards. He also enjoyed watching football, Taiwan news, Weather Channel and any shows about the military. Dick and his wife never missed spending every Christmas holiday with their grandchildren.
Dick leaves fond memories to be cherished by his children; Len (Ivy), Steve (Queenie) and Helen (John). He had 6 grandchildren who warmly called him “D”; Derek, Cindy, Duncan, Alex, Ethan and Jake. He is also survived by countless brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and many other relatives.
