Dominick Basileo

Dominick “Dom” Basileo of Sunrise, FL went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. He was 70 years old. Dominick was born in New York, New York on January 7, 1953, to parents Pasquale and Antonetta Basileo. He was the oldest of 6 sons.

The Basileos moved to South Florida when Dom, and his brothers Mike and Pat were young. Dom met Connie Callaway when they worked together at a local grocery store Grand Union as high school students. They fell deeply in love and married June 15, 1973. Dominick adopted Connie’s son David shortly after, and raised him as his own son. In 1998 his wife, Connie, went to be with the Lord at the young age of 42. Dom ensured that all of his children were loved and cared for.

Dom was a hard working man who always did whatever it took to make sure his loved ones were taken care of. Dom worked in security for many years and some of his fondest memories at work were when he worked with his son Derek at Ed Morse. Dom’s favorite things included music, both playing drums and singing, the Miami Dolphins, John Wayne and old Western films, making others laugh so much and of course a nice Italian meal. Dom had a very contagious smile. His genuine kindness, sense of humor, and positive attitude were felt by everyone who knew him. Whether you were family, a friend or someone he just met, if you needed help, he was always there, no questions asked. He will be greatly missed by many.

Dom was preceded in death by his wife, Cornelia “Connie” Callaway Basileo, his parents, Pasquale "Pat" & Antonetta "Ann" Basileo, his daughter, Monica Basileo, his brothers, Salvatore and Pat Basileo, his sister-in-law, Audrica Basileo, his parents-in-law, Charles, Sr. & Mary Callaway, and brothers-in-law Charles Callaway, Jr., Lamar Vaughn, and great nephew Kyle Caputo. He is survived by his children, David Basileo, Derek (Lindsey) Basileo, Alyssa Basileo, and Ryan Basileo; his grandchildren, Gianna, Lia, Kiah, and Evelyn Basileo; his brothers, Mike (Fran) Basileo, Anthony Basileo, and Joe Basileo; sisters-in-law, Charlene C. Vaughn, Brenda D. Callaway, Nancy C. (Tommy) Williford, Becky Basileo and all of their extended families.

The family will receive family and friends for Dominick's funeral service on Sunday, September 24, 2023, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Babione Funeral Home at 10060 Calle Comercio Drive, Boca Raton, FL 33428.
