My Nana. I love and talk to you every-single-day lately. My dreams haven’t been as vivid, but I can wake up sometimes knowing I was just with you. I see birds and butterflies by my window that constantly remind me you’re there, although with the weather right now you’re probably beyond grateful to be watching from afar. As I said the date out loud today, I realized what the day marked. It would have been your last day physically with us, 7 years ago. I wonder what you did that day, and wish I would have called. I’m sure you spoke to my dad, so at least I know there was mention of me anyway. ;) I remember our last phone conversation though thankfully, after I called on a whim of seeing a woman who reminded me of you at Dunkin Donuts. Never would I have imagined being so grateful for that phone call.  Thank you for watching over me. Although I speak out loud to you everyday idk what brought me to this page today, but I’m glad something did. Incase it hadn’t already been known, daddy loves and misses you VERY much. It’s admirable to even see a son adore his mother so much, but you made that easy to do of course. I miss you and those soft soft cheeks!!! Dear mom today marks the 2nd anniversary that you left us. I know your still around watching over us all. Aja has vivid dreams of you and tells me about them saying your happy and well.It's bittersweet hearing her tell me this.I need for you to know how much I miss you. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you.Thank you for making me the man that I am today. I love you very much mom and hope to see your smile and hear your laugh again one day .

Dear mom..It's hard to imagine but it's been a year since you left us for a better place. Hasn't been the easiest of times for any of us and you are constantly on my mind..I dont feel like celebrating this day but I must recognize it and honor you the best that I can.I dream t of you the other night and woke up in feeling very low depressed and cheated....I told Aja about it and she felt that it was good dream and that it was you stopping by to say hello and let me know that your and your energy were still around and well. She told me she dreams of you often and says your always smiling and laughing in her dreams.She believes that your just popping in to visit her..She certainly made me feel better about the whole thing..Anyways just wanted you to know I love you and miss you very much mom..

Happy Birthday, Dotty! We think of you often, especially this past St. Patrick's Day when I would have left you a smiley-face cabbage at your front door!(That's a private joke between Dotty and I... Not a day goes by that I dont think of you mom..I hope your looking down on us and see how much your missed..With your birthday approaching and your anniversary as well it will be hard on us all but especially dad.But we will try to think of all the good times we had as a family and get thru it..You held us all together mom and although we dont talk about it often we all miss you terribly.

It's been a week since your passing mom..Pain is still there as is my love for you..I truly miss you.I will honor you in every way that I can.You will be in my heart forever.

I just don't understand, why you had to go
There are so many things, I still wish for you to know

You never missed a holiday, not a graduation, nor birthday

To my mother
Mom was a very special person to me..
How does one go about explaining how important your mom is..
How she helps shape your life.. How she was always there when you needed someone to talk to..a shoulder to cry on..Get Advice...And just being your mom..
'FAMILY' was her life and she was the center of ours..
She raised the 4 of us 'Eddie Joey , Keith and myself  (All boys) as best she could..Not an easy thing to do for sure..And a rather thankless job..
I'm sure she'd alway had wanted a daughter but it be just the four boys..
Then came 2 grandsons.. Eddie and Matthew
Then finally the princess would arrive.. Aja Nicole
Most recently she had a great grandson 'Jackson'
Unfortunately she never got to see Jackson in person but couldnt stop talking about how adorable he looked each time kate would email us all pic's of young Jackson..
I have sooo many fond memories of my mom..
When I think back to the Commack '26 Penguin Lane' years(That's were we all grew up).
There are soo many good memories..
I remember cold winter days..With our fireplace burning and mom spending the day cooking her 'World Famous' Macaroni & Meatballs...The smell of that cooking thru out the house all day long..Nothing was better then that..We use to fight over who'd get the last meatball..They were 'That good!    Her 'infamous' Pot roast was a close 2nd..Watching football games all Sunday with the scent of Pot Roast brewing was simply the best..
Anyone who's ever tasted her cooking knows she was great in the kitchen..A fantastic cook

I remember one time she lost her wedding ring while doing yard work and raking leaves..She was soo upset and worried that dad would flip his lid if he found out..We tore apart every bag  of leaves until we found that darn ring and the relief and look on her face when found was priceless..
Raking leaves..My brother's remember those days.
I remember one time raking leaves with a buddy and in a moment of stupidity decided to see what the pile of leaves would look like on fire..Mom looked out from the back window  catching us  and came out screaming like a loon..and helped us put out the fire.. I think that ended my 'Playing with matches faze' lol
Speaking of  Loon... We spent many summers in upstate New York in a place called 'Loon Lake'
I learned to swim and water ski up there..I love looking back at the pictures we took there..So many great memories as a family up there..
I remember bar b que's in the back yard in Commack with all our cousins , Aunts & uncles over..Or going to our aunt's & Uncles every weekend for  get  togethers ..Our family was very close back then if it wasnt  Grandma's house it was Aunt Pat & Uncle Jack's , Aunt Carol & Uncle Rob's , Aunt Terry & Uncle Bobby's place..Each weekend bring new fond memories each weekend..I love looking at all those old pic's..Such warm memories..
I remember another moment of stupidity (I've had a few) After a night of drinking my buddy Al & I decided to climb the lilco tower near my house..We snuck into our garage to crab dad's ladder so we could make it up the tower and mom happened to open the garage door catching us in the act..She had asked what the heck we were doing and I told her Were climbing the lilco tower..She voiced her rather angry opinion thinking we were nuts and told me to get in the house..Think that time tho we kept to our plans and I suffered the consequences afterwards..
It was rough When I moved down to Florida not being near our family..The whole family up in New York I would rely on memories to get me by..When mom dad (and Keith) decided to move down here in Florida I couldnt have been happier..I wanted them near me and thought it would make for a better life for them down here as well getting out of that rotten weather up in New York...I guess I was very selfish and I hope my brother's didnt hold that against me..
Having mom & dad living so close by made life much easier for me..
We did many things together for many many years...Going to Sunfest ..I remember one time there running into Burt Reynolds who my mom 'LOVED' and getting his autograph for her, Bowling as a family , Being in the hospital when my daughter Aja was born..Mom was such a help..And I loved her for this..She would watch Aja after school for many years and loved every minute of it..Aja was the princess that she never had and it was a match made in heaven..She would cook for her and take walks with her and always make Aja feel special..I know mom cherished those days..As did Aja..Countless  trips to Disney World even tho she and Keith would would hardly go on any rides she would walk all day long in that heat just so Aja could have the time of her life and be a part of it...Thank you mom..
My mom was also a cleaning fanatic..Anyone who knows her or ever stepped in her house knew this..There was clean..Then there was "Dotty Clean' There was no short cuts..You just cleaned it the right way of..Her way..She hated that I'd would tease her saying she was a cleaning nut.And her house was like a museum .But truth be told I admired that in her..She'd come to my sloppy house and know she'd just want to grap a rag and some Lysol and just go to town but wouldnt because she didnt want to offend me.. 'I've always admired how proud she was of her immaculate home and how she presented herself..
We joked about bringing a  vacuum to this service but didnt think she'd enjoy looking down from above and seeing  a hoover sitting near the podium..

Christmas's were always wonderful and she always made it special..Nobody could wrap gifts like mom always so perfectly wrapped like they came directly from the store..The scent of her cooking (usually her macaroni & meatballs) thru out the day made everyone looking forward to Christmas dinner..Over the last few years I started making the dinner and after everyone would say how good it was , I'd tease her saying it was mom's recipe but I tweaked it to make that much special..It was all you mom....
I just followed your recipe to a  tee..

She was a classy lady..Elegant , with style and lots of pride and dignity..She always wanted to look her best when leaving the house whether it was to go food shopping to Publix  to a nice restaurant or a vacation to Las Vegas..
Speaking of Vegas..She loved the place..And those darn slots..She dad & Keith went several times before I decided to join them..We took them there for my parents 50th anniversary and had a blast..
She like the local casinos as well...
Mom would go out with keith and I for some time..We called it 'Girls night out' and we'd catch a movie at Muvico then grabbed a bight to eat.. As her breathing became more difficult she stopped going..
Mom was a crack pot reader and could read 5 books at the same time..The nook became her best friend..Not being a big fan of technology (She hated the internet) I was blown away how quick she fell in love with the nook..
TV was also important to mom..AS A child I remember watching the academy awards with her and rooting for the actors we'd like to win.. Years later we would binge on multiple episodes of 24 with Jack Bauer and 'Lost' and couldn't wait to discuss what happened after each episode.. 
She loved Judge Judy & Judge Joe Brown..Court TV types of programs..And those silly housewives shows..And I would tease her on that saying it was crap tv and she's reply your baseball and football programs were crap TV..
As a parent you don't get a 'How to be a great parent' or a 'parent for dummies ' book..If there was it would have been written by my mom..
Bottom line was my Mom was a very special lady..And lived basically a simple life..Never asking for much but gave soooooo much asking for nothing in return..
She was a wonderful mother , grandmother and person
She deserved so much more and left us much too soon..
We almost lost her a couple of years ago
But luck and the man upstairs gave us another 2 years to enjoy this wonderful woman I call 'mom'
But 2 years wasn't enough Mom as far as I'm concerned...I've learned we take things for granted and dont really appreciate them until their gone..
A couple months ago   Eddie,Pat ,Joey & Matthew decided to come visit us for a few days and it was wonderful to have us all together as a family. I am so glad they got to see mom and be with her..
Mom it's only been a few days and I miss you terribly..Words can't describe the pain that I am feeling at this time.
My heart aches like never before..There are so many things I want to tell you 
Like how beautiful you are..How much I appreciate and admire you. How much you've meant to me.
 If only I could give you one more hug and tell you how much I love you..
Please know I love you with all my heart..and you will always be with me..

Heaven welcomed its newest angel on Saturday, August 3rd. For the past 17 years, we have been blessed to be not just neighbors but family.  I recall all the wonderful conversations and times we shared together, but I will mostly miss bringing Dotty her 'cabbage head' on St. Patrick's Day.  That was our little private joke that I will cherish in my heart forever. We miss you so much already, Dotty.  The heart never forgets the love of a friend and our hearts will be forever bound with the friendship and love we all shared.  Love always, Elena, Joe, Nicole, Gianna and Buddy.

When I first met you, I so admired your classic, elegant style and I thought, she's always so beautiful and dignified. As I grew to love you, I thought she is always loving and compassionate for everyone. You knew I didn't have a mother and you accepted me into your family. Your heart was always so big, your love so selfless and abundant.... I came to you with my burdens and you carried them even though you had your own. I learned so much about being a mother as I watched how you mothered. As you became sick I marveled at how you never complained, you were more concerned that your family was sad. I know you would be feeling terrible that we are all crying today, that's just how you were.
I thank you for everything you taught me....
I thank you for every kindness you've shown me...
I thank you for always accepting me and making me feel I was loved.
I will miss your beautiful face and loving smile.
I will miss your fiery personality..
I will miss our conversations and how you always knew just what to say to make things better.
