With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Edelmiro A. Serrano, who was born on April 24, 1946, in Utuado, Puerto Rico, and passed away on February 1, 2026, at the age of 79.
Edelmiro was, above all else, a family man, a loving husband, a devoted father, and the kind of person whose presence could lift a room. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Maria De Lourdes Serrano, and his children Jennifer, Jessica, Michael, and Steven.
Edelmiro and Maria built a life together through thick and thin, one rooted in loyalty, patience, sacrifice, and genuine devotion. Their marriage was more than a partnership, it was a living example of what true love looks like when it is chosen every day. The home they built was not only a place, but a refuge, maintained with care, filled with laughter, and anchored by the steady strength of a man who gave without expecting anything in return.
A proud U.S. Army Vietnam War combat veteran, Edelmiro served his country with courage and honor. He carried that same strength into his everyday life, quietly, consistently, and with purpose. He was hardworking to his core, a man of stamina and drive, always on the move, always ready for the next task. As a retail manager, he was known for his energy and work ethic, but to his family, what mattered most was why he worked, to provide, to protect, and to ensure his family had what they needed, today and tomorrow.
He believed that love is shown through presence. He did not just tell his children what mattered, he lived it beside them. He took his kids camping, taught them how to build bonfires, and created memories that will forever feel like home. He taught life skills that became lifelong values, being bilingual, being responsible, being humble, and understanding that money is earned through honest work. He would take us to his job and explain his responsibilities, not to impress us, but to show us what it means to be a man of integrity, to work hard, and to take pride in providing for your family.
Edelmiro was a simple man in the best way, someone who found joy in life’s small, beautiful moments. A deck of cards, a domino table, the sound of family in the next room, one of his famous piña coladas, or a cup of Dewar’s scotch enjoyed the way he liked it. Some of his happiest moments were spent sitting with the people he loved most, sharing stories, making everyone laugh, and turning an ordinary night into something we will miss forever. Family movie nights, a cold drink in hand, surrounded by love, that was his kind of peace.
He was loved by everyone in his family, and his absence is felt in every corner of our lives. We miss his voice, we miss his jokes, and we miss the way he made things feel lighter just by being there. Even as we grieve, we hold onto the truth that the love he gave us did not end. It lives on in the home he built, the values he taught, the memories he created, and the family he held together with steady hands and a faithful heart.
Rest in peace, Dad. You gave us everything a father should give, love, laughter, guidance, protection, and a lifetime of unforgettable moments. We will carry you with us, always.
