Frances Keroes, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Friday, September 1, 2023 at her home in Boca Raton, Fla. A beautiful, sweet and kind-hearted person, Fran was loved and cherished by her family and friends. Her fun spirit and sense of humor endeared her to many.
In 1946, Fran was born as Frances Ann Marsicovetere in Brooklyn, New York to an Italian family. Her childhood was rich in friends and family (and pasta), and she and her brother, John, as well as her cousins, enjoyed many fun antics and adventures throughout their neighborhood of Sheepshead Bay. A precious daughter, she was doted on by her parents, and she grew up beautifully and well loved.
After graduating high school, Fran worked for several years in New York’s garment district and eventually met her husband, Martin, at the Ginza Disco in Manhattan … it was love at first sight. He sold his saxophone to buy her an engagement ring and asked her to marry him. They married in City Hall on a lunch hour and later bought a home in Sheepshead Bay to build a family together. On their tenth anniversary, Fran and Marty renewed their vows with a wedding ceremony in St. Mark Church, with their one-year-old daughter, Heather, in their arms.
Fran devoted herself wholeheartedly to motherhood and would do anything for her family. There was nothing more important to her. She relished family gatherings and enjoyed cooking. Her quiche was the best. She always strived to provide more for her child than she herself enjoyed in childhood. She was very proud of Heather, supporting and encouraging her education, and was there for her throughout the myriad twists and turns of life.
As her daughter grew older, Fran returned to the workforce as a receptionist and secretary. She was always very organized and had a very welcoming and pleasant way about her that made people smile.
Words cannot capture the sheer joy Fran felt when she learned that she would become a grandmother. She loved her son-in-law, Dylan, as one of her own, and couldn’t wait to welcome her granddaughter, Emma Rose, to the world. And when she was born in 2016, Emma truly became her world. She and Marty would drop anything at any time to be with their granddaughter. Fran loved shopping for Emma and rarely left a store without a gift for her. Even as her illness started to take its toll, her dedication to her “little doll” never wavered.
Frances Ann Keroes is survived by her husband, Martin Alan Keroes, her daughter, Heather Marcy Keroes, son-in-law, Dylan John Parramore, granddaughter, Emma Rose Parramore, and brother, John Marsicovetere.
She is loved more than she could ever know and is greatly missed.
A small, private funeral will be held in September with immediate family members. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Frances’ memory may be made in her name to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Please help support the fight against breast cancer.
