Frank Costa, 101, of Boca Raton, Florida passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026.
Frank was born on October 6, 1924, in Rochester, New York, to Cateno Costa and Maddalena Puleo Costa, who preceded him in death. As a young man he moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he was lovingly cared for by his sister, Angela Costa Federico, who also preceded him in death.
After graduating from high school, Frank proudly enlisted in the United States Navy. He served his country with honor during World War II as a Naval Ensign in the Pacific Theater and received an honorable discharge in January, 1946.
Frank’s remarkable work ethic began at an early age. At just 12 years old he started selling fruits and vegetables from a wagon. After returning home from military service, he and his brother Sam Costa (deceased) opened their first grocery store on Clark Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1955, they founded the beloved Costa’s Corners in North Royalton, Ohio. Following the company’s mergers with Rini-Rego Foods and later Fisher Foods, Frank retired in 1976. Never one to slow down, he relocated to Boca Raton, Florida where he opened King’s Liquor and Deli in 1980.
Frank shared 73 wonderful years of marriage with Faye Marie Dinardo Costa, who preceded him in death. Together they built a family that was the center of his world.
He is lovingly survived by his four children, Madeline Costa, James Costa and his wife Anna, Frank Costa and his wife Jodi, and Annette Costa. He also leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy and were the heart of his life. Frank was also dearly loved and respected by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
A private military internment will be held at the South Florida National Cemetery.
Frank will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his entrepreneurial spirit, his service to his country, and the kindness and generosity he showed throughout his long and meaningful life.
Though he will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing he is at peace and reunited with his beloved wife, Faye.
May his memory be a blessing.
