George Douglas Morse

August 23, 1961October 4, 2020

Boston native George D. Morse, 59 years old, beloved brother and son, passed away at his home in Deerfield Beach, Florida, during the early morning hours on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020. He is survived by his mother, Annemarie Nocera, and sister Michelle Morse, of Boca Raton, Florida, and brother Wayne Morse of Venice, California and his late brother, Paul Morse, his extended family, all the Nocera's, step brothers and step sister, his aunt and uncle, Peter & Angie Scifo of Connecticut and his many cousins whom he grew up with. George was loved and cherished by so much family and so many friends, too many too list, in Massachusetts, and Florida.

George served in the United States Air Force and had an honorable discharge in the 1980’s. From there he found a long career in hospitality working for the Long Wharf Marriott in Boston. He moved to Florida in 1992 and worked for the City of Deerfield Beach for many years before getting injured on the job and subsequently moving on to a sales career.

George always considered himself a “true Bostonian”. He was truly a unique, one-of-a-kind character. Everyone who knew George or came in contact with him loved him immediately. George had a smile for everyone and had such a gift of making people laugh. He was able to tell the best stories with such minutia and humor that kept people wanting to hear more.

George also loved his Boston sports teams. He belonged to a fantasy football league. He was a natural at picking winning plays. His friends in the league would become his “second family”. George loved his “boys”, Sylvester and Blackee, 2 rescue cats that were his pride and joy. George was a generous supporter of rescuing and feeding the feral cat communities in South Florida and did so for many years. He got such joy from it and said it was his way of giving back and he continued to do so until almost the end.

What sadness ! To lose someone so young. I have known Anne Marie and her family for about 50 yrs, maybe more. I remember George as a young boy. I remember him being a quiet gentle boy. You could see how and why he would become a man who loved animals and would rescue them whenever possible, what a wonderful home his 2 cats had.
The sad thing is that we can’t be there to put our arms around Anne Marie and Michelle and Wayne. You need your friends and family to comfort you at times like this, and we would all be there if it were possible.
Just know that you Are in our hearts and in our thoughts constantly . We will send you love and send you strength....
Much love....Valerie

Dear Friend, AnneMarie (and family( ~ It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of your beloved son, George. A mother losing her child carries one of the heaviest of crosses. To lose him just a few months after losing your loving husband, Lou, is beyond comprehension and beyond the comfort of any words we can offer. We will remember George (and you and Lou) in our Masses and prayers.

Hold on to the faith in Our Lord that you have always had. You have always been a beautiful wife, mother (and friend).

We send our fondest love and our deepest, heartfelt sympathy.

George, the memories of us all growing up together will always be in my heart. Way to young and way to early but I know you are now at peace looking down on all of us with that famous half grin, squinting eyes and bouncing your head laughing. 🙏
