Mrs. Hòa Thị Trần, 97 of Boca Raton, FL; a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on Saturday March 12th , 2022 surrounded by her beloved family. She was born in Nam Đinh Province, North Vietnam in 1925. She was the daughter of the late Quyền Duy Trần, a Vietnamese Mandarin in the early 20th century and Lý thị Phạm. Mrs Trần, our beloved mother, had lived a full life witnessing for the last 10 decades many significant political events including the Vietnam War that was deeply affecting the lives of millions of the Vietnamese people. She personally experienced the Nationalist uprising against the French colonial rule leading to the signing of the Geneva treaty that forced her family to migrate from North to South Vietnam in 1954, the Tết offensive in 1968 that destroyed her house and then the fall of Saigon in 1975 separating her family with 2 sons in the labor camps for over a decade and a son evacuating into the US.
In 1990, fifteen (15) years after the fall of Saigon, our mother together with her 7 children immigrated from South Vietnam to the US settling in Boca Raton, FL for the last 32 years. Our mother, a devoted Catholic, had been enjoying her life going to church, knitting clothes for her children and grandchildren, visiting them where they live, and watching many popular TV series and programs including the Tennis grand slams events. She even remembered the names of some of the famous American Tennis players such as Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi.
We will celebrate her long life of 97 years, a life that glorifies God’s name by completing her task on this earth. She taught us how to live and how to die.
Our mother was preceded in death by our father, Lễ Duy Lê (1985), her first son Lạc Quảng Lê (1980), her first son-in-law Phổ Văn Phạm (2017) who was the husband of her first daughter, and her third son Lịch Du Lê (1955).
