
Jack Joseph Failla died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his angels and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 22, 2023. Jack was born in Beth Israel Hospital, Passaic, N.J. on July 28, 1940. Jack was a loving husband to his wife of 58 years, Brenda French Failla. He was Dad to his three children, Jack Failla, II, of Flemington, NJ, Brett Failla, of Waretown, NJ and Teale Failla of Surrey, England. He was Pop Pop to his three grandchildren, Jake Failla of Gainesville, Florida, and Sean Failla and Riley Failla of Flemington, NJ. He was a loving brother to his sister Elaina Failla. Jack's Mother, Marie Longo Failla, father, Salvatore Failla, and brother Peter W. Failla predeceased him.
A 1958 graduate of Lodi High School in NJ, Jack then went on to Rutgers University and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering, and an MBA in Finance. After university, Jack enlisted in the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant and was then promoted to First Lieutenant and Post Engineer at Fort Tilden, NY. He was awarded the Army's Certificate of Achievement for his service, and honorably discharged. Jack and Brenda spent most of their lives in Westfield, NJ, Brenda's hometown.
Jack had a distinguished career with Mobil Oil where he was Project Manager on several major projects. He and Brenda spent 20 years living overseas in England, Nova Scotia, Norway, Japan, Singapore, Italy and Qatar, while maintaining their home in Westfield. He was the Project Manager on the three-billion-dollar Qatar Liquified Natural Gas Project.
After his retirement, Jack and Brenda moved to Greenbriar Oceanaire in Waretown, NJ. There he thrived in his favorite past time playing Billiards. He played in many tournaments in Florida, NJ and Pennsylvania. Jack and Brenda split their time between their beloved Seagate Condominium in Highland Beach, Florida, and Waretown.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Brenda, sons, Jack and Brett, daughter Teale, three grandchildren, Jake, Sean and Riley, daughter-law, Laura Failla, Jake's Mom, Barbara Nissinger, Jake's sister Samantha and his stepdad, Marc Nissinger. He is also survived by his sister Elaina Failla and one nephew and five nieces.
Jack was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to everyone he met. He always put others first. He was well loved by all who knew him. His presence will be so deeply missed. Rest in Peace beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.
A Memorial Service will be announced. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield, NJ.
