I remember Jimmy from his younger days growing up on 73rd street in Brooklyn.  His family lived across the street from mine.  He was a few years younger than me but our families knew each other very well.  In the late 1960's many of us were drafted and guys were leaving the neighborhood and entering the service.  I last saw Jimmy in about 1973 in Brooklyn.  He was a fun guy back then and I want to express my condolences to the Bruno family......  John DiSpirito

Became friends with "Sgt. Steele" via social media. Always a positive message shared and an appreciation for each and every day! Condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.  Riposa in Pace brother.

Mr. Steele - as I would call him every time we would speak via facebook.  He would tell me all the time tell me to call him Jimmy. Between my Coach Steve Bruno,  Mike Bruno and dear friend James Bruno - it was always about respect.  Mr. Steele would spend times giving me guidance and no matter what circumstances were to arise, he was always a positive role model.  My Coaches always spoke of traditional martial arts and it's true value - well low and behold Mr. Steele was a book stating that fact.  Traditional values are the key to the real martial arts - and I quote " John, never let others tear you from the values of traditional martial arts for the martial arts is the true key to life."  

I will miss our special private talks. I know he's in heaven with my grandparents and brother - I can honestly say God Bless the Bruno family for letting me in such a way words cannot describe.  

My thoughts and prayers to Marie and her family.  May God give you all the strength to get through this very difficult time.  Jimmy Rest In Peace “que Dios te bendiga”

Dear Bruno Family,

I wanted to express my sincere condolences ....
Although  I never met Jimmy in person we talked on Facebook & in several  NYPD groups for police officers.... I was the admin for NYPD Retired Police Officers The Real One, which Jimmy was a member of.. He was admired by many who worked with him throughout their careers and knew Jimmy personally... Jimmy & I talked about the Job how it changed from when he was on till my time & shared so many things that we had in common as cops and as people... We both had a love for food...lol..

He was so inspirational to many people.. his love for family & his deep faith touched everyone...He never forgot to tag people on a daily basis on how God would make today great... He was man full of life & had a great passion for his family & The , NYPD... I will miss Jimmy and his posts on life love family & NYPD..Jimmy was an inspiration to us all... God bless you all...RIP Jimmy Gods Speed...

Jimmy was truly a gentle giant when it came to children.. My girls loved him... He will be dearly missed .. May you rest  in peace now Jimmy .. Your memory lives on within each of your children .. Love to the entire Bruno family.. 

The Bruno family was kind Enough to include my family with theirs on a few holidays back when my mom was still alive. We loved sharing the love and food with all of you! My brother, also being a police officer loved sharing “war” stories and hearing about NYPD with Jimmy! 

Jimmy was so happy for me and. My new family. His many kind words and love he showed. 

My heart hurts for the family he  has left behind.  Prayers for all of you. Xo

I was friends with Jimmy via Facebook. I always enjoyed his posts of himself working out, his dogs and his family. I am so sorry for your loss, I am sending condolences and prayers to the surviving members of his family. Jimmy went out on "Good Friday" so he is with the Lord....... in Heaven. Rest In Peace Big Man!

To the Bruno Family,
 I wanted to express my deepest condolences to you all on the passing of your loved one. Although I never Jimmy in person, we communicated and shared stories and comments via Facebook in a NYPD group for police officers “club 23”. Like Jimmy, I’m a Sergeant in the NYPD and we shared many memories and even talked about our love for our dogs. He seemed to be a man full of life and pride and had a great passion for his career in the military , NYPD and security services. What I noticed most was the tremendous love he had for his children and his family. His constant posting of pictures proved he loved you all very much and that his world revolved around you. I hope you do understand that he is at peace and his body is in pain no longer. He will watch over all of you and protect you all from Heaven. He served his time on earth well and will be rewarded greatly for the impact he had on so many lives. God bless you all.
