

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James “Jimmy” John Esposito, affectionally known as “Espo”, 66, of Delray Beach, Florida, formerly of Chelsea, Massachusetts, who passed away suddenly on June 1, 2026. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend whose warmth, generosity, kindness, and big heart will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jimmy was born and raised in Chelsea, Massachusetts, son of John A. Esposito, Framingham, Massachusetts and the late Ann M. (Hanlon) Esposito. He was a proud member of the Chelsea community. He would go on and plant his roots in Revere, Massachusetts where he lived for many years before retiring in Florida, most recently residing in Delray Beach.
Jimmy attended St. Rose Elementary School and Malden Catholic High School before graduating from Chelsea High School with the class of 1977. Following high school, Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Army Military Police Corps from 1978 to 1981 on active duty, followed by several years in the Army Reserve. He was honorably discharged in recognition of his dedicated service to his country.
From a young age, Jimmy was an accomplished athlete. He participated in local sports beginning with Pop Warner Football and continued his athletic pursuits at Malden Catholic and Chelsea High School, where he eagerly geared up to compete against any opposing team with determination and enthusiasm. He was also an avid runner and an accomplished marathoner, proudly completed the Boston Marathon three times during his 30’s.
Jimmy shared 25 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sherri (Schwartz) Esposito. Together, they embraced retirement in Delray Beach, Florida where they especially enjoyed regular walks along Deerfield Beach with their cherished Cockalier, Bentley, who will both miss him dearly. He also treasured his visits back to Massachusetts, spending time with his children, grandchildren, sisters, nieces and nephews, and his father.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife Sherri; cherished father of Julianne Falzarano, her husband Anthony and loving grandchildren, Alessia and Serafina of Peabody, Massachusetts and Michael Esposito and loving grandchildren, Alani and Gianna of Weymouth, Massachusetts.
In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, Jimmy leaves behind his loving sisters: Deborah Antin and her husband Frank of Mattapoisett, Massachusetts; Virginia Lutze and her husband Jay of Pocasset, Massachusetts; Ann Creedon and her husband Kevin of Ponte Vedra, Florida; Donna Esposito and her husband Joseph Rodrigues of Malden, Massachusetts; Patricia Keegan and her husband John of Wilmington, Massachusetts and Mary LoVasco and her husband Thomas of Beverly, Massachusetts. He also leaves many adoring nieces and nephews, loving cousins, and dear friends.
A graveside military service will be held at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are invited to attend the graveside service.
In addition, a Memorial Mass in Jimmy’s honor will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Chapel at the Soldiers Home in Chelsea, Massachusetts on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at 10:15 a.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend. The immediate family will hold a private burial of his ashes following the Mass.
