Jennifer Simmons Palermo, age 50, of Boca Raton, Florida, was called to heaven, September 9, 2020. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her home. Jennifer was born in Pueblo, Colorado, the daughter of the late Allen and Charlotte Simmons. She was raised and attended school in Pueblo, and moved to Boca Raton soon after completing fashion design courses. Shortly after this, she met Scott Palermo, the love of her life. After a wonderful courtship, they were married on December 7, 1996. They were blessed with two loving children, Carlee, 22, and Cole, 21.

Jennifer truly loved life. She will be remembered best for her beautiful smile, her kind heart, her generous and giving nature, her incredible sense of humor, and her love of a good challenge. She loved orchids, cardinals, and sunrises on the beach. Jennifer immensely enjoyed the outdoors. She was an ardent skier and swimmer, having worked as a lifeguard for several summers in high school. Jennifer was a member of the Boca Raton Woman’s Tennis Team, Division Three, for many years and cultivated numerous lasting friendships with her team members. She was good at any sport she tried. She became quite an avid golfer in the last years of her life. She made anything she did fun.

Jennifer was a treasured daughter, a loving wife, a devoted mother, a fun sister, a loyal friend, and favorite Auntie to numerous nieces and nephews. Jennifer is survived by her beloved husband, Scott, and her two cherished children, Carlee and Cole. She is also survived by her two dearest brothers, Andy (Cristina) Simmons and Bob (Jennifer) Simmons and their children, along with the entire adoring Palermo family, and a myriad of incredible, loving friends. Jennifer was taken from us way too soon, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She truly was everyone’s favorite person.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude Catholic Church, Saturday, September 19, at 12:30 PM, 21689 Toldeo Road, Boca Raton, FL 33433. An open house reception will follow at the Palermo home. In lieu of flowers, the Palermo family requests a donation to Angels Among Us at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, To donate click on the link below.

Jenne loved so many with that defining bright, contagious, light hearted smile we all love so dearly. She loved to connect with people and share her smile and her time freely, doing anything for anybody. As you know, this is why she was so loved. She was one of a kind and will be missed like no other. In this life I have been fortunate to know two such people closely; both her and our mom. Both gave more than they took. A truly rare life lived indeed. My fond memories from this past year include being known as “Jenne’s Brother” at the gym. I am both proud and grateful. She will always inspire me. Other fond memories include laughing with her at my Pilates learning curve, my slice on my drive at hole three at Red Reef short course (that poor house!) and my attire. She was an honorary member of the fashion police and cited me many violations! We also shared a lot spiritually as the circumstances encouraged. Yoga drunk talks about our parents passings and shared memories were priceless moments for me and healing for us both. Walks through Duke‘s Garden, unifying. Simple sunrise conversations over morning coffee on her back porch, my treasures. But watching her spiritual growth over the past years as she worked to take off her mask of false self and move toward true self has been my greatest teacher and most beloved memory. This growth enabled her to move through the diagnosis, treatment, progression, pain, and acceptance with amazing strength and grace. For me, it was watching a miracle from the front row, center seat. I will look for her each day in a smile, a sunrise, cardinals, butterflies, love, strength and grace. I am forever grateful. I will always adore her. Much love to you all!

Sending the Palermo family love on behalf of all of Jenne's high school classmates, who are devastated by her passing. We have been sharing our fondest memories of Jenne with one another, and everyone loved seeing her and meeting Scott at our 20-year reunion some years back. We cheered her on as she fought her brave battle, and we appreciate the time she and Scott took to keep us updated on her progress. Jenne will continue to be remembered at all of our future gatherings, and we will miss her beautiful smile and warm laugh dearly. In the meantime, we take solace that she is reunited with her mom and dad.

We will always remember the holidays we spent, Thanksgiving and Easter. The time you had the kids tie dye T-shirts. You are the coolest! We would fight at the kitchen sink over who would wash and who would dry. You always won! We bonded at that sink, laughing and sharing stories of motherhood. You are someone I always admired. Your strength, courage and perseverance are beyond meaning. You loved with all your heart, you played with all your heart, and you lived with all your heart! You left us all with a little piece of it. Thank you. You will be dearly missed ❤️

Jen was an amazing tennis teammate and a super fun friend. She was always quick with a joke or a prank and got us on many occasions, so much so that the day we went on a boat and were in the water I didn’t believe her when she said she saw an octopus! I teased her and said “oh right “ with great sarcasm until I went down to look for myself. This time it was all truth! We laughed and laughed and it will be one of the many memories I will cherish in the years ahead. I will wear the Wonder Woman socks she gave me often and carry Jenne with me always. I will miss her tremendously. Gone too soon but never forgotten. Love to her entire family.

Scott, Carlee and Cole,

We are so sorry to learn that your beautiful Jenne has passed away. We know
she was the light of your lives. Although we did not get to see Jenne often, Rosie and Larry would always keep us updated on your fun-filled lives, including some of the pranks she and Chris would pull on each other. I always loved seeing the picture on Rosie‘s and Larry’s bookshelf of you, Scott, with Jenne on the Captiva beach on your wedding day. The look of love on your faces was so heartwarming. We send love and prayers to you and your extended family at the loss of your Jenne. Much love, Lori and Mike.

Jenne was such a beautiful person inside and out. She had the biggest heart of anyone I know and brought fun to everything she did. She was so loving and caring and couldn’t do enough for everyone. She was not only family but my big sister as well. Our family has truly lost a warrior. The void in our hearts will slowly heal with her strength and courage she gives us each day. May you fly high with your angel wings and watch over us. There isn’t a day that will go by we won’t miss you and think of you. Heaven has gained another beautiful angel.

Jenne loved the sunrise and tried never to miss one. She was the bright light in the room. There wasn't a recipe or sport that she wouldn't try to perfect, like tennis, fishing, skiing or golf. Jenne worked at it! Always pushing herself to do a great job.
Papa Tone and Mama Vee will never forget that beautiful laugh. Dear God, please take good care of our Jenne, like she took care of all of us. Love you, Jenne, our beautiful butterfly!
