John Marsicovetere, a beloved uncle and friend, passed away June 1, 2026 at his assisted living residence in Orlando, Fla. Originally from Brooklyn, John was a true New Yorker, known for his lively spirit and unmistakable accent. He will be remembered for his cheerful smile and laughter, and for the love he had for his family.
Growing up in Brooklyn, John was part of a close-knit Italian family and played often with his cousins, whom he cherished. His beloved baby sister, Frances, was his closest friend. As a child, he helped care for her while their parents worked, and their bond remained strong through the years. John was also very devoted to his mother, Rose, whose passing later in life affected him deeply.
John worked in the textile and garment industry before enjoying an early retirement. In the late 1990s, he moved to Boca Raton with his parents and longtime partner, joining the many New Yorkers who made South Florida their home. He enjoyed a fulfilling life surrounded by family and friends. John had an amazing eye for the finer things and loved shopping for antiques and collectibles. His cherished Lladró collection was a source of great pride and joy.
Although John never married or had children, he shared a love with his partner, Howard, for many years and always preserved their friendship. He considered his niece and goddaughter, Heather, like his own child, and proudly stood by her side for her baptism and confirmation, and was always an important part of her life. As the years went by and Heather had her own child, he treated her just the same, and was a doting uncle to his grand-niece.
John Marsicovetere is survived by his niece, Heather Marcy Keroes, his niece’s husband, Dylan John Parramore, grand niece, Emma Rose Parramore and brother-in-law, Martin Alan Keroes. His beloved cat, Baby, resides with his niece and her family. He joins his parents, sister and life partner in heaven.
A small private funeral service will be held in June for immediate family members. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
